Last game of the Copa America 2015

The two best and most attractive teams of the Copa America reached the final, so the title decider should be an entertaining game even for those, who don’t follow South American football or football at all. Jorge Sampaoli, Chile’s Argentinian national coach will meet his home country in the biggest game of his career, while Lionel Messi and co. are looking for the first trophy of the remarkable generation of theirs. Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina midfielder Javier Pastore mentioned that he is enjoying his time with the national side, where his task is to help Messi and Angel di Maria to bring out the best of them.

Whoscored.com: Match Focus: Chile & Argentina Battle to End Trophy Drought in Copa America Final

Finally the Copa America got a fitting final, as Chile, the best team in the group phase meets Argentina, that obviously had a lot of potential and eventually started to roll against Paraguay in the semifinal. These two sides scored the most goals in the tournament, and gambling facts also has that no other team was able to win a match by a margin of more than one goal.
According to the statistics, these two outfits featured the best passers and they enjoyed the best possession rate. These two also want this Copa badly, as Chile are looking for its first ever trophy, while Argentina want to terminate a 22-year long period without a trophy.
Though Chile had the easiest draw, they were also able to control all their matches, registering a 70% average possession rate, and they scored the most goals amongst participating teams with a tally of 13. With that in mind, it is possible that Argentina, with the brilliant front three of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Angel di Maria, will sit back and try to catch Chile on the break.
It is also important to mention that while Chile is pretty vulnerable in the air because all of their players are short, fitting to their tactics that requires quick and agile footballers, Argentina has a potential to pose aerial threat.

ESPNFC.com: Copa America final the biggest game of Jorge Sampaoli’s impressive career

The Copa America final will certainly end an unsuccessful run, as Argentina wait for their first silverware in 22 years, while Chile are fighting for their first trophy ever. Meanwhile, for Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli, this will be the game he waited during his entire career.
Sampaoli produces an extra show next to the sideline as his team is playing on the pitch, and this reflects to the drive that took him so far coming from Casilda, a small town in Argentina. He wanted to be a football player, but an injury prevented this, and he worked at clubs in Peru and Ecuador to become one of today’s most exciting coaches.
Some of those who follow sports scores might know that Sampaoli follows his fellow Argentine predecessor Marcelo Bielsa’s philosophy and game plan, which is all about press and attack, even against those sides that are obviously stronger than Chile. And now he has to take on the team of his home country, a far more talented side, to reach the greatest success of his life.

Goal.com: Pastore: I play to make things easier for Messi and Di Maria

Though Javier Pastore was one of Argentina’s stars against Paraguay in the Copa America semifinal where La Albirroja were thrashed 6-1, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder revealed that for the national side his main task is to help Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria to give the best performance.

Pastore was also praised by national team coach Gerardo Martino after his performance against Paraguay, where, as keen followers of live sports results might remember, he scored a goal and registered an assist.

Pastore expressed that he enjoys the role of the midfield playmaker, online gambling news report. He said, “I am playing here to make things easier for Leo and for Di Maria.”
He added, “What I like most is setting up goals. When I give a pass that ends up being a goal I enjoy it more than anything else. Messi likes all sorts of passes, because whether you give it to him on his chest, his head or his feet, he always controls it well. He likes short passes a lot, so that he can play a one-two. He does that a lot for his club and I have seen it in training here. What he likes best is to have players nearby so he can receive the ball back.”

Argentina Thrashed Paraguay in the Semifinal of the Copa America

Jul 01, 2015

Argentina met Paraguay again at the 2015 Copa America after the two sides played a 2–2 draw against each other already in their Group B meeting. Lionel Messi and his teammates had the upper hand on that occasion, but somehow they were unable to finish the game off and Paraguay came back to equalize and grab an important point.

This time Argentina took a two-goal lead once again, but now they did not let the same happen, though Lucas Barrios made it 2–1 before half time. Tata Martino set his players to terminator mode for the second half however and they scored four more to back their claim to the title, which they can win against hosts Chile who look for their maiden Copa victory.

SkySports.com: Argentina 6-1 Paraguay: Angel Di Maria nets twice in easy win

Argentina hammered Paraguay in the second semifinal of the Copa America and will meet with Chile in the title decider on Saturday. Argentina put six past Paraguay goalkeeper Justo Willar and the goals of Albiceleste came from Angel di Maria, Marcos Rojo, Javier Pastore, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain, online gambling news report.

Just before half-time it seemed that the game would be much more interesting, when Lucas Barrios made it 2–1. However this time Paraguay weren’t able to come back after being 2–0 down like in the group stage match of the two, like many of those who follow sports scores would recall.

Though Argentina had a lot of chances against Colombia in the quarter-final and still were unable to score, they were much more clinical against Paraguay. Marcus Rojo took the lead after 15 minutes of football from a Lionel Messi free kick, and after that the Argentinian attackers had a lot of space to create goal-scoring opportunities as Paraguay was pushing desperately.

The Guardian: Argentina hit Paraguay for six to reach Copa America final

In the semifinal against Paraguay, Argentina showed their best display in the Copa America so far and swept their opponents aside easily with a 6–1 scoreline. That result sent Tata Martino’s team to the final where they will play against hosts Chile, gambling online news report.

Though he did not score himself, the key role was Lionel Messi’s, who organized his team’s attacking play and who also delivered three assists. Argentina had a tally of four goals from their first four matches in the Copa America, but against Paraguay they were able to score more than that in a single game. Messi expressed that the reason behind the considerable low amount of goals in the early stages of the tournament wasn’t Argentina playing badly.

“We talked about that just before the match,” said Messi, “And we said it was just chance that we hadn’t scored more because we’ve been playing well. Today all the goals came at once.” Paraguay lost their two strikers because of injuries in the first half, and though substitute forward Lucas Barrios was able to make it 2–1, Paraguay were never in contention to reach the final, as Argentina were rolling in the second half.

ESPNFC.com: Argentina thrash Paraguay to set up a fascinating final vs. Chile

When Lucas Barrios scored with a left-footer to make it 2–1, many of those who follow live sports results would think that Paraguay could be able to equalize again after going down 2–0 against Argentina, as they did in their group match. However this time Argentina came out to the second half as a virtually unbeatable side and finished the game with an embarrassing result for Paraguay.

La Albiceleste had a lot of opportunities to finish the game on the break in their group stage match, but those chances left unconverted. This time the setting was similar, however Messi and co. kept on scoring and with only eight minutes into the second half it was 4–1 and all over practically.

It is interesting that Paraguay weren’t playing any worse than they did in their first match against Argentina at the 2015 Copa America, but Argentina were so much better and more clinical that La Albirroja just didn’t have any chance to reach the final of the competition.

Uruguay Will Cause Problems for Chile

Uruguay may constitute tough opposition for Chile. (Photo: The Telegraph)

Chile will take on Uruguay in the first quarter-final of the 44th edition of the Copa America. This match could be one of the most intriguing clashes in the tournament as the two teams have characteristically different styles and mentalities. Chile will play on the floor, attacking and pressing all the time while Uruguay is going to sit back and try to win set pieces in the opposition’s half. The hosts, who seriously lack height, have troubles with high balls and La Celeste could be able to exploit this despite the fact that Chile will play in front of their own crowd.

IBTimes.com: Chile vs. Uruguay 2015: Prediction, Preview For Copa America Quarterfinal

In the first quarter-final of the 2015 Copa America the hosts will entertain the title-holders. Uruguay is the most successful team in the history of the competition with 15 titles, while Chile have yet to win their first Copa despite taking part in all the 44 edition of the tournament.

Chile have never had a chance like this to win the Copa or any other international trophy, which puts a considerable amount of pressure on the team. The group of players is the best in quality the nation ever had, however their display was far from immaculate in the group stages, as followers of live sports results might have noticed.

Arturo Vidal and co. were the best against Bolivia, in a match when the pressure was off, with advancing already secured. However their defensive problems and their lack of height contributed significantly to a 3–3 scoreline against Mexico, and all this could be exploited by Uruguay too, but the hosts are still the favourites to advance.

Goal.com: Sampaoli: Uruguay last-eight tie is a final for Chile

Uruguay coach Jorge Sampaoli thinks that title-holders Uruguay will cause a lot of problems in their respective Copa America quarter-final at the Estadio Nacional. After winning group A convincingly, La Roja is on track to win its first title in the 99-year long history of the competition, to please all the Chileans who follow sports scores.

However, Sampaoli outlined that Uruguay’s style will make their quarter-final a troublesome tie, online gambling news report. He said, “I believe the game for us is a final and it will be very complicated due to the opponents’ characteristics, We will play against a team which knows how to play this kind of game. These are distinct matches with a mental factor.”

He also spoke about the aerial threat Uruguay poses. He expressed, “They have played against teams with more height than us and have always scored goals because they have good headers of the ball.” He went on to emphasize the importance of Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez. He said, “Alexis has to play an integral role for the function of the Chilean attack and has to impose himself with his skill and the form he is in.”

ESPNFC.com: Chile and Uruguay Copa America quarterfinal will be decided in midfield

Chile racked up 10 goals in the group stage of the Copa, with no other team reaching five, and this should indicate that they are on a level where it is no problem for them to convert their chances. However, Chilean football expert Leonardo Veliz expressed that they weren’t as impressive in the first phase as their tally would suggest, according to gambling news.

“The Chile that qualified did not convince me,” he expressed. “Its apparent brilliance came only against an already qualified Bolivia. Those five goals against Bolivia hide a reality. There are great individual strengths… but also gaping collective weaknesses which could be exposed against opponents with more quality.”

They will have 90 minutes to seal the game before a possible penalty shoot-out against a Uruguay team that is capable of knocking out the hosts. Even without their biggest star, the banned Luis Suarez, because their strengths are the organized defending and nodding in high balls in the opposition’s box.

Maybe in not every match but spectacular football is guaranteed and you can make some money on it. Watch the greatest strikers in the world you get to know future prospects during the tournament!

Possibly the scouting team of your favourite club is also watching the games, and though this is not a youth tournament, you might be still proud to yourself if you found a talented but obscure footballer who will end up at some major European club in the summer. So, if you did not watch the games so far, have a look at our points, and make sure you will be in front of the telly when the next game kicks off!

WorldSoccerTalk.com: 5 Reasons to Watch the Copa América

The Copa America is always a terrific event, but this year the competition between Argentina and Brazil will be as fierce as ever, after both of them failed to win the World Cup in South America last year. But here are even more reasons to join the action in front of your TV set.

Though Luis Suarez is suspended you will still find a lot of superstars in Chile including Lionel Messi, Neymar, Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero. Moreover the scheduling is also awesome for those followers of sports scores who watching the tournament from the Americas. The Europeans though still have to solve a problem similar to the one they faced twelve months ago.

The squads participating in the tournament also feature around a score of Premier League stars amongst others, so if you don’t like to observe teams fielding wholly unknown players, you will find a bunch of familiar names in almost every game.

WhoScored.com: Messi 2.0 ready to lead Argentina from the wilderness

Lionel Messi made his debut for Argentina 10 years ago, but he is yet to win his first trophy with the team. There is a perfect occasion for that, as he was reborn after the World Cup final that was lost in extra time last summer, to lead Barcelona to an historic treble. Now he has a task to go all the way in the Copa America to get his country level on the number of titles with Uruguay.

Of course, Messi wasn’t the only player in that Barcelona squad that won everything this season. The arrivals of Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla and Luis Suarez from Liverpool were main contributors to the success, however, the biggest effort obviously came from the Argentina captain, who changed for this season, together with Barcelona, and everything came off for them.

“We won every competition we entered and it’s incredible to do the treble again,” expressed Messi, according to gambling news. He added, “Thankfully, we were able to fulfil our objectives with our club and hopefully we can now gain more success with the national team which is what we all want.”

The Guardian: Guemez, Salcedo and Corona ones to watch at Copa America

Mexico’s main target for this summer is to win the Gold Cup, and in order to give a rest for his key players, Mexico manager Miguel “Piojo” Herrera virtually named a reserve squad to the 44th edition of Copa America. He left out high-profile players like Javier Hernandez, Andres Guardado, Giovani dos Santos and several others.

Still he stated that Mexico is able to win the Copa America with this squad, though El Tri never managed to win the competition in eight previous attempts. With the need of deploying two different squads, he called up virtually unknown players in international football, as well as names who weren’t featured by the national side recently, online mobile news report.

There are a few young players who could take on the opportunity to secure themselves a starting spot for the near future. Javier Guemez is a calm but aggressive defensive midfielder, while the 21-year-old centre-back, Carlos Salcedo, is the youngest in the squad, still playing like an experienced defender. Jesus “Tecatito” Corona is a brave forward, but in order to become the top asset of the team, he must stop trying to do everything by himself.

Brazil Ready for the Copa America

Jun 12, 2015
Brazil is among the contenders of Copa America

Brazil is among the contenders of Copa America

The Selecao played his last warm-up game before the Copa America against Honduras. Brazil won 1-0, but the most important thing was Danilo being injured and the inclusion of Dani Alves to the team to replace the Porto defender. Neymar also joined the action for the second half of a rather uneventful match. To making an excuse towards supporters who jeered after the game, Robinho expressed that their moderate display was all right regarding this was their last game before the Copa, and they had to spare most of their energy. For the best of the Copa, the biggest stars of South America are in excellent shape, so this year’s tournament should be most certainly an event to watch.

The Guardian: Neymar returns as Brazil beat Honduras in final Copa América warm-up

Brazil defeated Honduras 1-0 in a game that wrapped up the preparations for the Copa America. Neymar teamed up with the other players from the squad on Monday, only two days after he scored Barcelona’s last goal in the Champions League final in Berlin, where the Catalans defeated Juventus, as keen followers of sports scores know.

Neymar replaced Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho at half-time, however Brazil already have scored the only goal of the match that time, as Roberto Firmino found Noel Vallarades’net in the 33rd minute. Brazil controlled the game that was played in constant rain, however they had few chances, which is always a reason to be critical for the supporters of Brazil.
Robinho argued that they were keeping the best for the tournament ahead of them. He said, “We eased off the throttle a bit because we know the Copa America is the most important thing for us. The team is practically ready. We’ve been improving match after match.”

Sky Sports: Roberto Firmino strikes in Brazil’s final Copa America warm-up

Brazil beat Honduras 1-0 through Roberto Frimino’s strike in the first half. That was Brazil’s last friendly game before the Copa America, and it cost them default right back Danilo who injured his ankle early on. He is out for the tournament and Dunga instantly called up Barcelona’s Dani Alves to replace him, latest gambling news report.

Roberto Firmino scored the only goal of the game played in Porto Alegre. The Hoffenheim midfielder put the ball into the net between the goalkeeper’s legs after a clever one-two between Filipe Luis and Philippe Coutinho in the 33rd minute. That was virtually the only exciting moment in the first half of a rather dull game played in steady rainfall.

Neymar, who joined the team on Monday after the final of the Champions League, had a disallowed goal and a great chance after he took the field in the second half. Brazil has won all of its last 10 games since Dunga took over the team after the humiliating 7-1 defeat against Germany in the semifinal of the World Cup last summer.

WhoScored.com: Player Focus: Copa America Superstars in Fine Form Ahead of Chile 2015

Johan Cruyff stated when he coached Barcelona that the season after the World Cup was virtually always unpredictable, as the best players, who participated in the tournament, were exhausted. He said, “Everyone in the squad who played in the World Cup – I think there’s about 13 of them – has been injured for a short or a long time. It can’t be coincidence.”

However this season was an exception for many and the Copa America could benefit from that, as all the biggest South American stars including Leo Messi, Neymar, James Rodriguez and Alexis Sanchez are in excellent shape. This would increase the prestige of the tournament for any of those who follow live sports scores in Europe.

A tired Messi was seemingly in power saving mode for the most of the World Cup last summer, always to strike in the most important moment, however after assessing his physical condition he is back at his best regarding his game and his fitness too. Neymar injured in the World Cup against Colombia, but he is also as good as ever, contributing vastly to Barca’s treble and Brazil could also capitalize on his outsanding form.

Chile Will Never Have an Opportunity like This Again

Jun 12, 2015
Chile National Football Team is Ready for Copa America

Chile National Football Team is Ready for Copa America

Chile participated in the first edition of the Copa America 99 years ago in Buenos Aires, still they did not won a single tournament yet. Now they have an excellent squad featuring world class footballers and capable of playing the fastest and most intense pressing game around. Chile uses an approach that is arguably the most up-to-date in football, though they will be under exaggerated pressure playing in front of their home crowd. Chile came very close to eliminate Brazil in the World Cup last year, and though they were unlucky then, their time might have come to achieve something big.

The Guardian: Chile host Copa América with best chance to end 99-year wait for title

Chile participated in the very first edition of the Copa America in Buenos Aires in 1916 together with Brazil, Uruguay and the hosts, Argentina. Uruguay, being arguably the best national team in the world that time, won that tournament and added 14 more Copa titles later, while Argentina captured 14 titles and Brazil also managed to win 8 Copas to date.

And Chile did not win one. But now they have probably the best chance to alter this record. They have top quality players in Claudio Bravo, Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez, with a compact team that can play in 3-4-1-2 and 4-3-3 as well, always pressing and dictating a very high tempo.

They almost eliminated Brazil last summer in the round 16 of the World Cup, but the crossbar and the penalty shootout favoured the hosts then. However, Chile’s time might have come finally, though the injuries of Mauricio Isla and Eduardo Vargas hurts their chances according to latest gambling news.

ESPNFC.com: The Copa America: A summer of vindication and redemption awaits

The current Chile national team is the most talented the country ever had, so, as they will be playing on home soil, they will have as good a chance to win the Copa America they will never have again. Not to mention the strength of their group which is the easiest in the tournament, also featuring Ecuador, Mexico and Bolivia.

The prolific striker of Arsenal, Alexis Sanchez said that “The time has come to achieve big things.” However, this tournament will be also about the two South American giants. After Brazil were humiliated by Germany 7-1 in the semifinals, and Argentina were just beaten by Joachim Low’s side in the final, both teams have something to prove at the Copa.
The latter won its last trophy 22 years ago, and was struggling in the previous edition of the Copa at home. However they were able to find a way to bring out the most from Lionel Messi since, and the No. 10 is arguably in the best form of his career, which might be easily the best form in any football player’s career ever, according to many followers of sports scores.

WSC.co.uk: Pressure on Chile to end Copa América hoodoo

Though Chile has been present at the Copa America since it was first organized in 1916, they have never won the competition. Nations like Peru, Bolivia and Colombia were all had the opportunity to celebrate a Copa victory but this never happened with Chileans before. However, now they have a real chance to experience that feeling.

Chile hosted six Copas before, but they only reached the final once. National team coach Jorge Sampaoli, realizing the level of expectations amongst the fans, planned to take the squad to Europe to prepare for the tournament properly. However they opted to stay at home instead, placing the team’s facilities and the roads nearby under heavy security surveillance.

A Chilean TV station tried to make pictures of the squad’s training by deploying a drone, however when the device flew over the training pitch, Sampaoli ordered his team to leave the field. All media workers were also banned from the training center immediately, gambling news report.

However they were able to find a way to bring out the most from Lionel Messi since, and the No. 10 is arguably in the best form of his career, which might be easily the best form in any football player’s career ever, according to many followers of sports scores.

CBF Claims Dunga Has Full Control over Team Selection before Copa America

May 20, 2015
Dunga Brazil football coach

Dunga Brazil’s team football coach

After a story emerged from the Brazilian media about a Cayman Islands-based marketing company influencing team selection of the national side, the federation denied the allegations. They acknowledged however the existence of the contract that was discussed in the report, but emphasized that the actual head coach of the national team picks the best players before every game Brazil is involved in.

After the national team’s coach, Dunga has called up Liverpool star playmaker Philippe Coutinho to the squad preparing for the Copa America, the fans of Brazil and the Reds are curiously waiting to see the midfield trickster playing alongside Neymar. Coutinho struggled when on national duty so far, but now he has to take his game to a new level for club and country.

ESPNFC: Brazil says squad selection done solely by coach, not marketing partners

The CBF, the Brazilian Football Confederation denies that a marketing company, that buys the commercial rights of every friendly game of the Brazilian national football team for 1 million dollars, would also name the line-up of the Selecao. The CBF reacted to alleged details of its contract with a Cayman Island-based firm published by a Brazilian newspaper.
According to the report, there would be a fifty percent cut from the fee the company usually pays to CBF per matches if players like Neymar are left out of the team. However, CBF stated that “the criteria for selecting the squad for the matches of the Brazilian team are, and always will be, with the coach”.

They did not deny the existence of such agreement, saying “The contract between the CBF and ISE is not a secret and large parts of it have been published before”. CBF’s statement also emphasizes that coaches always select the best players available naturally, not because of the influence of a marketing company.
The contract between CBF and International Sports Events on behalf of the federation was agreed by former president Ricardo Teixeira, who stepped down from his position in 2012. He quit after he was accused with corruption together with former president of the FIFA, Joao Havelange, as many who follow sports scores remember.

Rushthekop.com: Copa America Important For Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho will have a shot to prove his skills to South America and the world at international level this summer, wearing the special yellow shirt of Brazil. Gambling news reported earlier this month that Brazil head coach Dunga left out Chelsea’s Oscar from the squad due to injury, and picked Coutinho, that came as a surprise for many.
Dunga expressed that he expects the little magician to entertain Brazilian supporters like he does with the people of Liverpool. He said, “There is a lot of talk about Coutinho here in England because of what he is doing with Liverpool. I would like to see the Brazilian fans clamouring for him too.”

When he got the opportunity before, the playmaker failed to deliver for Brazil so far. However, with a bunch of strong performances under his belt and with a considerable growth in confidence, Coutinho will have a chance to develop his game further playing alongside stars like Barcelona’s Neymar and Orlando City’s Kaka.
Coutinho was named to the PFA Team of the Year and was arguably Liverpool’s most important player in this year’s campaign. After the departure of Steven Gerrard and possibly of Raheem Sterling, Coutinho’s role will be increasingly important for the Reds. His new experiences with the national team in Chile might help him to offer even more for Liverpool.
