Jul 15, 2015
46-0 record defeat of Micronesia

The 46-0 record defeat definitely put Micronesia on the football map.

The Micronesia national football team made the news all over the world.

Their 46-0 record defeat was shown or mentioned in sports news everywhere. They are doomed to failure without the support of the international football federation. Development and the spreading of grassroots football are virtually impossible without help from the FIFA.Micronesia applied for a FIFA membership before, but the organization did not incorporate them yet. Now they hope that the 46-0 record defeat might raise the attention of FIFA. There is also a petition that calls FIFA to embrace the Micronesia national football team. Once they joined, Micronesia will apply for a membership in the Asian Football Confederation.

After the 38-0 rout against Fiji and the 30-0 loss against Tahiti, Vanuatu handed a 46-0 record defeat for Micronesia. The latter result hardly shocked any of those, who follow gambling blogs. This means that the Federated States of Micronesia finished the group stages of the Pacific games with a 0-114 aggregate scoreline.

Stan Foster, the coach of the Micronesia national football team said, he expected the hammerings, gambling news report. However, he thinks the attention they brought might help them to get some assistance. He also revealed, that to appear in the FIFA world rankings would mean a huge boost for them.

The record margin in an international football game was 31-0 until recently. Australia thrashed Samoa in 2001 by that scoreline. But then Micronesia took the field against Fiji. And then against Vanuatu, and history was rewritten with a 46-0 record defeat. All this happened in an Olympic qualifying tournament, so the young squad of Micronesia could be together for a long time.

The Guardian: Micronesia appear on Fifa’s radar after massive Pacific Games defeats

The Micronesia national football team is planning to join the Asian Football Confederation. Just after they registered a 46-0 record defeat against Vanuatu, they are preparing to compete against teams like Australia, Japan or South Korea. To make this step though, they will need FIFA recognition first.

The Federated States of Micronesia have been applying for a FIFA membership for long. However, international football’s governing body refused to embrace them. This might change as their 46-0 record defeat against Vanuatu was all over the sports scores news. Micronesia’s Aussie coach Stan Foster hopes the defeats might raise the attention of FIFA.

He said, “Even though [these defeats] have been bad publicity in the way of scores, I’m hoping that there’ll be a sympathetic ear because of that by FIFA. And with [FIFA affiliation] comes technical advisors, maybe coaches that will be stationed either semi-permanently or permanently on each of the three main islands that are encouraging grassroots soccer.”

Gulfnews.com: Micronesia hope thrashings lead to Fifa recognition

With the 30-0 loss against Tahiti, the 38-0 thrashing against Fiji and the 46-0 record defeat against Vanuatu, Micronesia made the news everywhere around the world. They 0-114 total after the group stages of the Pacific games is a remarkable thing for sure. And there are some people, who can still see the positives after hammerings like the 46-0 record defeat.

Paul Watson is one of those. The British coach managed Pohnpei, which is one of the islands of Micronesia. He worked there from 2009 to 2010. As Micronesia is not a FIFA member, they can’t participate in major tournaments. They aren’t eligible for funding. Yet, this might change now. There is a petition towards FIFA to embrace the islands. Many followers of live sports results have signed it already.

Watson said, “The fact Micronesia was even at the Pacific Games was a near miracle and owed so much to years of hard work from the country’s unpaid coaches, players and administrators. Micronesia was the only nation at the Games not to receive any development funding from FIFA.”

The week in pictures: July 07- July 13, 2015

Jul 14, 2015

Weekly news in pictures

Last week brimmed over with big news stories so lets take a moment to look back at some of the most important from the last seven days

In a crowded field of candidates, currently some 17 Republicans are competing for their party’s nomination for President in the 2016 race, Donald Trump continued to grab the headlines last week as he paraded his anti-Mexican rhetoric, insulted the press and then in defiance of the available evidence said of himself  “I’m, like, a really smart person.” He also promised to release his personal financial records, something he need do if he wants to participate in the August 6th televised debate.

The massacre at Srebrenica was commemorated some 20 years on with one guest, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, being chased from proceedings by an angry crowd that threw first insults and then bottles and stones, one of which struck him in the face. The massacre saw Bosnian-Serbs murder 8,000 Muslim men and boys in an event the international courts have ruled as an act of genocide, something Serbia, or the Bosnian-Serbs, still refuse to admit.

The Syriza led government of Alexis Tsipras in Greece continued to try and find a way forward with it’s Eurozone creditors last week but with the Greek population having voted down austerity measures in a referendum the EU seems to have now moved on from simply wanting to help to wanting to punish Greece, humiliate its government and force Tsipras from power. It remains to be seen if this bullying will prove more costly than Greece was already costing them.

In sport Raheem Sterling may well be moving from Liverpool to Manchester City after the two sides agreed a transfer deal valued at forty nine million pounds, the 20 year old just needing to pass a medical to secure the move. The deal will make him the most expensive English player ever but will it help Man City next season? You’ll have to read our daily news pages to find out, but in the meantime lets look back at some of the major stories we covered in the last seven days.

1. Gerrard is the second high-profile English footballer in Galaxy’s club history after David Beckham but “Liverpool Red” at heart.

2. Iker Casillas was expected to leave Real Madrid and join FC Porto thanks to various components, such as Lopetegui’s call or De Gea’s arrival.

Meanwhile a reckless driver in Los Angeles has hit the headlines after being captured on film driving through well-known portions of the city at speed for several miles in reverse. The dark coloured Audi not only exceeded the speed limit but also nearly hit pedestrians, swerved into oncoming traffic and has been said by police to be “some of the most reckless driving investigators have ever seen”. The vehicle and driver have yet to be traced although investigations are ongoing.

That’s a terrible way to be ruled out of the competition (Photo: YouTube)

Two-time Giro d’Italia winner Ivan Basso announced on the first rest day of the Tour de France that he has to retire from the competition.

On stage five he was involved in a small crash. The saddle caught his left testicle. After the incident, he felt pain for days. The medical checks revealed that he has a small cancer in his left testicle. The 37-year-old will have an operation in Italy as soon as possible. He trained mostly together with his Tinkoff Saxo Bank teammate Alberto Contador this year. The Italian climber would have been an important lieutenant of the Spaniard in the mountains.

Russia sacked Capello, which means the first part of the preparation of the home side for the 2018 FIFA World Cup failed. Yet, the Russian Football Union (RFU) acted in time.

There are three more years to build a decent team for the event. Fabio Capello’s contract was extended in early 2014. However, his sacking was in the air after the World Cup failure. As the RFU has financial struggles, Capello worked without salary for eight months. The biggest point regarding his sacking was the huge compensation in his contract. That had to be sorted out before firing him. Capello could hardly be disappointed with the amount of his final paycheck.

The Guardian: Fabio Capello leaves role as Russia’s head coach three years early

Three years before his contract ended, Russia sacked Capello, the coach of the national team, gambling news report. Fabio Capello had the task to prepare the side for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. However, the team was in poor form for long, and the Russian Football Union (RFU), decided not to pay his mega salary any longer.

According to online mobile news sites, Capello earned GBP 6.8 million a year for coaching the side. The RFU released a statement about terminating Capello’s contract. It said, “The Russian Football Union and the head coach of Russia’s national team, Fabio Capello, have reached an agreement to terminate the employment contract by mutual agreement.”

Russia is third in his qualifying group for the UEFA Euro 2016 in France. They are in a tough situation regarding a possible advance from the group. Capello worked without getting his payments for eight months before. RFU had financial problems, but Alisher Usmanov, a shareholder of Arsenal helped the union with a loan to pay the Italian coach.

The country’s Football Union (RFU) announced that Russia sacked Capello three years before his contract would have expired. The Italian coach was originally hired to lead the national team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The RFU revealed that Fabio Capello will leave on mutual agreement. The organization released a statement on its website.

The statement said, “The RFU sincerely thanks Fabio Capello for his work as head coach and wishes him success in his future career. Fabio Capello, in turn, thanks the RFU for the help and support he has felt throughout the years. He is also grateful to the players for working together and to the fans for their sincere support for the team.”

Russia were defeated by Austria 1-0 last month. The loss seriously hurt their chances for qualifying for the UEFA Euro 2016. Considering the poor form of the national team, the fact that Russia sacked Capello shouldn’t upset keen followers of sports scores. After his 2014 contract extension, the RFU was reportedly facing a compensation of EUR 21 million if terminating Capello’s contract. However, a mutual consent is more beneficial for RFU. This is why Russia sacked Capello only now.

Russia is preparing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The country will host the tournament for the first time. However, the news about Russia sacked Capello came hardly as a surprise. The Russian Football Union (RFU) has yet to name his successor. Leonid Slutski, the coach of CSKA Moscow is the favourite to take over the national side.

Fabio Capello, who coached the English national team before, started to work with the Russian national team in 2012. Later he got a contract extension until the end of the 2018 World Cup. Latest gambling news report that the RFU will pay Capello a compensation of GBP 10.5 million.

Russia failed to advance from their group at the 2014 FIFA World Cup last summer in Brazil. The side’s weak performance remained a feature for the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers as well. From six matches they picked up eight points only. Russia are currently third in Group G.

Roger Federer lost in four sets against Novak Djokovic in a vastly interesting and thrilling gentlemen’s singles final of the 2015 Wimbledon Championships.

A fitting match closed the men’s singles event of the Wimbledon 2015 final, as the world’s two best players met at the Centre Court of the All England Club. Though Roger Federer played as good as ever in the tournament, Novak Djokovic won the first set of the title decider in a tie-break. The second set brought the best tie-break in Wimbledon in 35 years, as Federer outlasted seven Djokovic set points to equalize. The momentum seemed to be on Federer’s side after that, however Djokovic was able to shape up, and he came back stronger. The rain caused a short stoppage in the third set, and after the players returned, it was virtually no question that the Serb will wrap up the match eventually.

The Guardian: Wimbledon 2015 final: Novak Djokovic ends era of Big Four to stand alone

After Novak Djokovic won the Wimbledon 2015 final of the men’s singles event, an era is considered to be over. There is no more the domination of the big four of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. Djokovic is clearly the best of the world and he is ahead of the others.

By beating Roger Federer in London, Djokovic captured his third Wimbledon title, and his ninth Grand Slam title overall. The Serb would have retained the leading spot in the ATP ranking even if he went down against Federer in the Sunday final anyway, however, by conquering the Centre Court once again, he made a statement, pointing out to followers of sports scores that he is the undisputable number one at the moment.

Djokovic demonstrated that when he is in top form, no one is able to overcome him. Even Federer, who is in way better shape than he was in the last couple of years, was unable to beat the Serb though they were playing in Wimbledon Centre Court, which is considered as the Swiss’ own house, where he won a record seven titles.

The match also included an instant classic tie-break at the end of the second set. According to pundits and keen followers of live sports results, the Wimbledon 2015 final was the best in that regard since the legendary final between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe in 1980. Federer was able to avoid seven Djokovic set points, to win it by 12-10.

Djokovic became really upset only once during the final, and if he will reach a point, where he will be able to handle the biggest matches without such explosions, he might be simply unbeatable. Yet, he overcame this episode, and wrapped up the game as only he can, to win his third Wimbledon title.

The New York Times: Roger Federer’s Loss at Wimbledon Is Disappointing, but Not Devastating

Roger Federer lost the 2015 Wimbledon final 7-6, 6-7, 6-4,6-3 against Novak Djokovic on Sunday. Though, enjoying his fine shape recently he clearly came to win the tournament, he was quite upbeat after the defeat against world’s number one, gambling news report.

Federer said, “I still think I had a great tournament. You can have good tournaments without winning as well at the end. I still won six matches and lost one. The ratio still remains very good. But of course, you walk away empty-handed.” He added, “I’m right there. My game is good. I got broken very few times this tournament. I played on my terms. Things are all right.”

Federer is 33, which is an age when most tennis players have retired already. However the Swiss continues his career and he just reinforced his status as world’s number 2 with his performance and his achievement, collecting the runners-up trophy in Southwest London.

He added, “To get out the way a lot of us did does hurt especially as there was an opportunity to make it count today. I got a 90 and there were three thirties. We think we are better than that. But when you are positive and going at it you are going to get out these days.”

Gasquet Defeated Wawrinka through Serve and Volley at Wimbledon

Jul 09, 2015

Richard Gasquet eliminated Stan Wawrinka to join Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic in the 2015 Wimbledon semifinals.

The Men’s Singles event at the 2015 Wimbledon Championships saw small renaissance of the serving and volleying approach so far, and this helped Richard Gasquet to turn the game over in the fifth set against Stanislas Wawrinka, when it looked that the momentum was on the Swiss’ side. Seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer wins serve-and-volley points more often than ever since the 2003 tournament at the All England Club. Both of them will meet baseline players in the semis, probably the two best tennis players in the world currently in that regard, and this means that there are some exciting matches ahead of us. Especially the Federer vs Murray semi, that will be something like an early final.

ESPN: Richard Gasquet joins top three seeds in Wimbledon semifinals

It was smooth sailing for world number 1, 2 and 3 – all former Wimbledon Champions – to reach the semifinals, however reigning Roland Garros champion and no. 4 Stanislas Wawrinka met Richard Gasquet, and the Frenchman stopped him in a five-set thriller, online gambling news report.

As keen followers of sports scores might know, it would be the first time in 20 years that the top ranked quartet played in the semifinals in Southwest London, however world number 21 Gasquet intervened beating Wawrinka 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-4, 11-9. The Frenchman had the opportunity to seal the match earlier, when he served for the semifinal at 5-3 in the fifth set.
“The last game was incredible,” Gasquet said after the game. “I kept fighting a lot. And I did it. It’s a great match for me. It would be difficult for me to lose that one after [leading] 5-3.” He reached his first Wimbledon semifinal since 2007, and will play against world no. 1 Novak Djokovic.

The Guardian: Wimbledon 2015: Andy Murray banks on home support against Roger Federer

Andy Murray faced Roger Federer for the last time at Wimbledon in 2012. In that year they actually met twice at the All England Club, deciding both the Grand Slam and the Olympic finals between each other, as many gamblers who follow live sports results might remember.

Wimbledon Scottish fan cheering Murray

Andy Murray can always count on the British crowd’s support in Wimbledon – and his Scottish admirers in particular (Photo: Daily Record)

Three years ago Federer won the Wimbledon Championships – his last Grand Slam title to date. Murray was able to beat him at the Summer Olympics. Looking at his current form and the possible support of the home fans, the Scot is considered as the favourite to advance this time by online sportsbooks in the EU.
World number two Federer eliminated Gilles Simon in little more than one and a half an hour in the quarterfinals, while no. 3 Murray needed a bit more than two hours to put Vasek Pospisil aside. The Scot hopes that the spectators will support him in the semi, though he knows that Federer is the topmost favourite of tennis fans all around the world, including London.

NYTimes.com: A Revived Approach: The Serve and Volley

Once upon a time serving and volleying was the ultimate rule for Wimbledon, as virtually every player approached the net to settle things as soon as possible. Tennis has changed however, but serving and volleying didn’t disappear for good. The real gamblers of the game use it again, and use it more often than ever since 2007.

According to gambling facts, serve-and-volley points per match are at 10.4 percent in this year’s Men’s Singles tournament at the Wimbledon Championships. For last year it was only 8 percent, but those players, who accepted that by approaching the net, they will clearly lose some points, however the odds will favor them on the long, are quite successful through the approach.
Roger Federer marched to the semifinals easily with his newly found game – he did not win so many serve-and-volley points since 2003, when he abandoned this approach – and Richard Gasquet was able to turn over the fifth set in his quarter-final against Stan Wawrinka via serving and volleying when things started to go to his opponent’s favor.

Wimbledon Gastquet Wawrinka

Iker Casillas Could Join FC Porto Soon

Jul 08, 2015
Iker Casillas Porto transfer

Iker Casillas has been rumoured to be leaving Real Madrid ever since José Mourinho started benching him, but Spain’s and Real Madrid’s captain kept fighting for his place. However, this summer’s transfer window could really be the end of an era.

FC Porto are close to naming Iker Casillas as their new player, according to the reports of several Portuguese and Spanish gambling news. Casillas would be the biggest star of the Portuguese side, the only question is if he is willing to actually sign for them.

Goal: Casillas edging closer to Porto

Iker Casillas is on the edge of reaching an agreement with FC Porto. He played more than 700 games and broke tons of records with the Royal Club, but right now he is very close to leave his current side. He would be the brightest star and the highest paid player if he joined the Portuguese team.

Online gambling news from Spain report that Real Madrid’s aim for this summer is to strengthen their squad with Manchester United’s David De Gea. The young Spaniard would be Keylor Navas’ competitor for the starting goalkeeper’s position, and there would be no more place left for the current number 1.

Los Blancos will do everything in their power in order to find the most suitable club for their legendary goalkeeper. Casillas and his agent hope for a EUR 15 million exit payment, but it is unlikely that the club would pay him that amount, so still a lot of negotiations are ahead of the two actors.

Meanwhile, Carlo Cutropia, Iker’s representative, has given an interview to Record magazine on Monday, in which he said that the 3-time Champions League winner would be happy to join FC Porto. “Casillas is pretty excited about the opportunity to join Porto. We hope Real Madrid will allow him to move on and give him an easy exit,” he said.

AS: Iker Casillas’ arrival may cause unrest at FC Porto

Spanish daily magazines highlight the fact that Iker Casillas signing for FC Porto might cause a huge shock for Portuguese football. That is because FC Porto are usually known for purchasing players for cheap transfer fees and letting them go to larger teams for larger amounts of money.

That is not the case with Iker Casillas, because, he might join the team for free, but he would be the highest paid player in the squad, which could lead to discontent among other players. Online mobile news report that Casillas would earn EUR 3,5 million at Porto, while he makes EUR 7,5 million at Real Madrid.

Iker Casillas Porto leap of faith

In addition, it is also unknown whether Casillas wants to play in a league which is far weaker than the Liga BBVA. The Spanish first division is the fourth strongest league economically, while the Portuguese is only the 11th. Only the transfer fee of Cristiano Ronaldo would be enough to cover the budget of several clubs in the Primeira Liga.

However, it is also known for sure that Casillas’ wife would have no problem finding a new job in the Portugal city. Sara Carbonero has become extremely popular in the entire country thanks to the interview which she made with Casillas after the 2010 World Cup, when he kissed her on television, during a live broadcast.

Marca: Iker Casillas called by Lopetegui

According to the reports of the latest gambling news, Julen Lopetegui has contacted Iker Casillas in order to try to convince him to join his side. His main goal with the call was to find out whether Iker Casillas is even interested in joining the Portuguese side, or not.

The Basque manager, who is now the head boss of the Dragoes, has heard about the rumours that his team wanted to sign Real Madrid’s captain. He did not care about the rumours, he wanted to know the real intentions of the main character of the latest transfer news, so he called the goalkeeper.

Iker Casillas Porto seduction

Iker Casillas has worked together with Julen Lopetegui in the past and they have quite a good relationship, supposedly. Lopetegui was a member of the Spanish national team’s coaching stuff during Inaki Saez’ reign at the FIFA World Cup 2002 in Japan and South-Korea.

The legendary goalkeeper is still on his vacation for the next few days and will start the pre-season with his current team on 10 July. However, if the Basque manager’s calls were not useless and he did manage to convince Real Madrid’s captain, then he might start packing as soon as possible.

Though Steven Gerrard left Liverpool for the LA Galaxy after 17 years, he was able to retain his famous jersey number.

He wore the Eight while playing for the Reds, as he was presented with the no. 8 shirt by Los Angeles Galaxy. His new club introduced the former England international to the media on Tuesday, and he will make his debut for Galaxy on this weekend against a Mexican side. His first Major League Soccer game is also coming next week, so it is no surprise that Gerrard compared his first days at his new employer in California to a whirlwind. By moving to Los Angeles, Gerrard followed a path that was paved by his former England teammate David Beckham, who spent five years at Galaxy.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who exited Merseyside after 17 years as an Anfield Road pro, revealed that the five years David Beckham, his former England international teammate, spent at Los Angeles Galaxy was crucial in his decision. Gerrard is preparing to play his first game for Galaxy against Mexican outfit Club America on Saturday.

Gerrard said, “David is a hero of mine, a fantastic guy, a wonderful footballer, certainly someone I leaned on for advice before I decided to come here.” At Galaxy, Stevie G will team up with Robbie Keane, who spent half a season with Gerrard at Liverpool in 2008-2009, as followers of live sports results might remember.
For Gerrard it was important to meet Keane, who solved his new teammate’s first big problem, online gambling news report. Gerrard said, “It was very nice to have Robbie around, he introduced me to the players and he also lent me some factor 50 as well so I didn’t burn. It felt like I was coming to a new school but thanks to my team-mates for making me feel welcome.”

The Guardian: Steven Gerrard excited to be following ‘legend’ Landon Donovan at LA Galaxy

Steven Gerrard expressed that he was impressed by Los Angeles Galaxy before he signed for them, as the California outfit wanted him badly throughout the process. Galaxy introduced him to the media after training on Tuesday, and his first Major League Soccer game is scheduled to July 17, gambling news report.

Gerrard said, “First and foremost I’d like to thank the club for getting me here. The club and [head coach] Bruce [Arena] were very aggressive in making me come here and I’m very excited to be here.” Gerrard is not the first player who arrives from Liverpool to LA, as US legend Landon Donovan spent two loan spells at Everton while representing Galaxy.

He spoke about the former US international to the media. He said, “Landon, who I played against at Everton, he was the enemy for short periods of time and who I’m sure I’ll bump into around the place and it’ll be good to bounce some feedback off him as well – he’s a legend here, he’s a hero.”

The ex-England international stated that the last week was very intense for him. He said, “The last seven days have been a whirlwind. I have had time, though, to do a lot of thinking and preparation. I have had a bit of jet-lag, but now I am very excited. There will be a few minor stops and starts, but I am now looking to fire from the off.”
Gerrard also spoke about the upcoming game. He said, “I’m very excited to be here. The game on Saturday can’t come quick enough. The level is very good here and I am here to help the other players. It is not much difference from Liverpool and it is time for me to do my talking on the pitch.”

The week in pictures: June 30- July 07, 2015

Jul 08, 2015

Weekly news in pictures

With numerous massive news stories hitting the headlines last week we spend a few moments going over some of the most important

Beijing took steps last week to halt the sliding share prices in its two major trading markets. With the Shanghai Composite Index having lost 30% of its value in the last three weeks the government has banned IPOs and set up a stabilization fund, 19 billion dollars of which was pledged by senior brokers, fund managers and mutual funds who will invest in the local market. With more than 3 trillion dollars already wiped off value Beijing has to hope this will stop the rot, but it may well not.

61.3% of Greek voters rejected the package of austerity measures that were to be imposed by the nation’s Eurozone creditors in a referendum held on Sunday. In the first such vote since the mid-1970s the government of Alexis Tsipras’ Syriza party gained support for its position of not acquiescing to the continued fiscal hardship set upon it from Brussels. The vote marks a turning point in negotiations between the Euro Elite and Greece, with a compete breakdown of the process and a Greek exit still likely.

Website Reddit faced a massive backlash to its sacking of Victoria Taylor last week with 300 of its subreddits closed down by unpaid moderators protesting at the decision. With Mz. Taylor viewed by many as trustworthy, and the rest of the Reddit employee roster being seen as disinterested corporate scum, the site’s chief executive Ellen Pao has already apologized for letting down users and promised to find a solution to fix the problem, but it is a promise few of the regulars believe she can keep.

In sport the FIFA scandal continued to rumble on with two leading officials with Croatia’s leading football club, Dinamo Zagreb, arrested on suspicion of tax evasion, bribery, corruption and numerous other offenses. Some 1.8 million dollars is said to have been defrauded from the state by the detained. Will this be a pattern repeated across the world as FIFA’s slide into infamy continues? You’ll have to read our daily news pages to find out, but in the meantime here’s the big stories we covered last week.

1. Lionel Messi helped Argentina with three assists in their 6–1 win over Paraguay.

4. With Argentina and Chile to fight for the title, everything was ready for a remarkable Copa America showdown before the final.

5. Russell Wilson mentioned that if he had the opportunity, he would play baseball while he continues his NFL career.

Meanwhile Hollywood’s portrayal of aliens as being humanoid has gained some well respected backing from evolutionary biologist Simon Conway Morris who last week claimed it was likely any extraterrestrials would look very similar to humans as the principles convergence gave rise to the same evolutionary development as man has enjoyed here on Earth. With isolated evolutionary structures coming to resemble themselves so it is now thought that the same variety of life will have reached domination on other planets as it has here.

Roger Federer Is Back to His Best at Wimbledon

Jul 07, 2015

Caroline Wozniacki thinks that those who arrange tennis schedules in Wimbledon, tend to prefer male players to female colleagues, as women have hardly any opportunity to show themselves on the Centre Court. After he crashed out on a smaller court, the major venue saw a Roger Federer, who looked ten years younger than his actual age, taking Roberto Bautista Agut apart at ease. The Swiss, who is on his way to his record eight Wimbledon title, might have terrified his rivals with that outstanding performance. The second week also saw another special moment, when the Williams sisters faced each other on the Centre Court.

The Guardian: Caroline Wozniacki accuses Wimbledon of a bias to men on show courts

Danish professional tennis player Carolin Wozniacki accused the Wimbledon organizers with some sort of sexism as he thinks that female players don’t get as much playing time at the major courts like their male colleagues. Wozniacki slapped the Wimbledon directors after she crashed out in the round of 16.

The 6-4, 6-4 loss against Garbiñe Muguruza was the fifth exit from the tournament at that stage in Wozniacki’s career, as she never reached the quarter-finals in Southwest London. She suggested angrily that women tennis players should get exactly the number of matches on the show courts like men do, gambling news report.

She said, “I would love to play on a big court. I think that’s what it’s all about; you work hard and practice to play on the big courts. The women really haven’t gotten the opportunity here to play on the big courts. You only get one women’s match on Court One and Centre Court.”

BBC.com: Wimbledon 2015: Roger Federer breezes into quarter-finals

Swiss icon Roger Federer was on fire against Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in the round of 16 at the Wimbledon Championships. Federer displayed top class tennis as he dispatched Bautista Agut 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 to reach the quarter-final where he will meet France’s Gilles Simon, online gambling news report.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion holds the record of the most Grand Slam wins in London together with Pete Sampras and Willie Renshaw. He said after the match, “I don’t think I made a statement. I did a nice job making the transition. It was a good match. I got off to a good start and kept rolling. Obviously maybe Roberto wasn’t at his very best.”

Butista Agut had no answer for the wide range of shots Federer used in their respective match. It seems that the Swiss is back to his best days, though keen followers of live sports results might have noticed that he also uses a serve-and-volley game under the coaching of Stefan Edberg. The Spaniard suffered an ankle injury in the third set, but he finished the match after a quick medical treatment.

NYTimes.com: Serena and Venus Williams Are Siblings Forever, but Rivals for Not Much Longer

American tennis superstar Serena Williams defeated her older sister in the fourth round of the Wimbledon Championships. She said after the game, “It definitely doesn’t get easier. But today I was out there, and I thought: ‘Wow. I’m 33, and she just turned 35. I don’t know how many more moments like this we’ll have.’ ”

williams-sisters-07072015

Serena Williams expressed that she wanted to keep on playing for a few years, but maybe that was the last time she had the opportunity to play against her sister on the Wimbledon Centre Court, where each of them won five singles titles. She added, “I just wanted to take the moment in. I remember when we were 8 years old. We dreamed of these moments. It was kind of surreal there.”

Actually, Venus was who paved the way for her younger sister, as followers of sports scores might remember, since she was who first won a Grand Slam title for the Williams family, and she was the first who reached number one in the WTA rankings.

Chile Wins First Title as Argentina Becoming Football’s Losers

Jul 06, 2015
copa america final 2015

Chilean victory (Photo: ca2015.com)

Another final, another defeat for Argentina. This time an awkward and sour one, especially for Lionel Messi, who had a quiet game against the tight-marking Chile defense, and whose family, online gambling news report, was abused by the overwhelmed Chile fans in Estadio Nacional. As the sides were unable to find the back of the nets, the game went to penalties, and Alexis Sanxhez, who missed his spot-kick against Brazil a year ago that saw Chile crashing out from the World Cup in the round of 16, stepped up to score with a half-Panenka. Through that, the ex-Barcelona forward, who led Arsenal’s frontline last season, helped Chile to their first trophy 99 years after La Roja participated in the inaugural edition of the Copa America.

The Guardian: Hosts Chile stun Argentina to claim first Copa América title on penalties

Chile waited 99 years for this, and in the end it came down to Alexis Sanchez, who had to score the decisive penalty in the shootout against Argentina in the 2015 Copa America final. Sanchez went for a Panenka, and though he failed to perform the trick-shot perfectly, he scored anyway as Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero threw his body towards the left post.

Gonzalo Higuain and Ever Banega failed to score from 12 yards previously, which meant that Chile won its first ever Copa America title, 99 years after they participated in the first edition of the tournament alongside Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Meanwhile Argentina lost another final and it is now 22 years for them without any trophy, as experts of gambling facts might know it.

This wonderful generation that produced players like Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano or Sergio Aguero might end their careers without any trophies at international level eventually, while fellow Argentinian Jorge Sampaoli was able to command Chile to victory in a stadium that was used as a prison at the beginning of Augusto Pinochet’s reign.

WorldSoccerTalk.com: Alexis Sanchez’s impressive year crowned by Copa America victory

Alexis Sanchez scored the winning penalty against Argentina in arguably the most important year of his career. He was amazing in his first year for Arsenal after he left Barcelona, and he was able to capitalize on his good form at the Copa America too, where he was an integral member of the team that delivered the first ever title for host nation Chile.

At Barcelona his main task was to give the ball to Lionel Messi and to win it back before giving it to Messi. However, anyone who follows sports scores might have noticed that in the past few years he emerged as one of the best forwards in the world, transforming from a quick winger, who is very good at pressing to a reliable goal scorer.

Sanchez virtually swapped roles with Luis Suarez, as the Chile international had to move after the Uruguayan world class player was acquired from Liverpool. Sanchez went to the Premier League to lead a team and to become PFA Fans’ Player of the Year, and at the Copa he helped his team with industrious work. After missing a penalty against Brazil in the shootout at the World Cup a year ago, he scored with his spot-kick this time to defeat Argentina.

Just-football.com: 22 Years, 6 Finals, 6 Defeats: Argentina Lose Another Final As Agonising Wait Continues

Though Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi won everything with Barcelona this season, they lost two finals with Argentina in a year. Last summer at the World Cup in Brazil, they were defeated by Germany in overtime, while this time at the 2015 Copa America, host nation Chile proved to be a better penalty taking team than La Albiceleste.

Messi did great, as usual (Photo: Goal)

Argentina is one of the biggest footballing nations, however, the national team has won no trophy in 22 years. Their last success came in 1993 at the Copa America in Ecuador, when they beat Mexico in the final with a brace from Gabriel Batistuta. Since then Brazil won it four times, Uruguay conquered the continent twice, even Colombia and now Chile was able to deliver a title.

Argentina has a generation now that won everything at youth level, with two U-20 World Cup victories and two gold medals at the Olympics between 2004 and 2008, as followers of live sports results might remember, yet fail to win a single trophy when competing with the grown-ups.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson Would Play Both Baseball and Football

Jul 04, 2015
russel wolson baseball football

More than one hat fit Russel Wilson (Photo: sportsblog)

Russell Wilson has emerged as a superstar in the NFL so quickly, that he is still being paid according to his rookie contract that grants him a USD 1.5 million for his final year. Seattle Seahawks want to agree on a long-term contract with him, but at the same time they obviously want to make a bargain as well. This would be tough though, as both Wilson and his agent Mark Rodgers argue that with his superb record, the 26-year-old quarterback deserves at least the amount that Aaron Rodgers, the top earner of the league gets, which is USD 110 million for five years.

NFL.com: Russell Wilson would consider both football, baseball

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl winning quarterback Russell Wilson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, where he was speaking about his contract situation as well as possibly pursuing a baseball career, online gambling news report.

Russel Wilson Jimmy Kimmel Live show

Russel Wilson on Jimmy Kimmel Live show ( Photo: Jimmy Kimmel Live show)

Wilson is obviously underpaid with his USD 1.5 million for his final year of his rookie contract, however it is speculated that he wants to be the best paid player in the NFL with USD 25 million per annum. When a question about this came up, Wilson basically refused to answer. He said, “I just want to paid based off my play. It will all work out in the end. We’ll figure it out.”

When the talk show host questioned him about whether he tried himself out playing for the Mariners in the MLB, if his rights would be acquired by the Seattle baseball franchise from the Texas Rangers, he admitted, that he would consider the opportunity. Many of those who follow sports scores are waiting for the moment when that happens badly.

CBSSports.com: Agent: It’s about winning and Russell Wilson does that ‘very, very well’

Russell Wilson is known for long as someone who refuses to give too much information for the media. Okay, not the way like Marshawn Lynch does it, but he is considered as a boring interviewee by media workers hanging out around the NFL. Yet, he and his agent Mark Rodgers are very actively commenting his contract status.

Rodgers said recently, “With Russell, he’s unique, so let the debate begin. He’s unconventional in size. People argue that he’s a game manager or say it’s the defense or Marshawn Lynch — or all of the above. I listen and take all that into account. At the end of the day, it’s about winning and what he’s asked to do and he does it very, very well.”

Wilson’s win-loss record is impressive with 42-14, and as the quarterback’s job is to win the games, NFL stars playing in that position tend to use it as leverage when discussing contracts. The NFL is pretty much about passing after all, as everyone knows, who follow major league’s live sports results, and without a good passer, teams are virtually useless.

fantasypros.com: Fantasy Impact: Russell Wilson’s Contract Year

Russell Wilson is about to become a free agent at the end of next season, and this is very uncommon in the NFL with franchise quarterbacks. Therefore the Seattle Seahawks will do almost everything to sign him for long. However, Wilson and his agent, Mark Rodgers want virtually everything, as their goal is to make the 26-year-old signal caller the highest paid player in the league.

Russell Wilson and agent Mark Rodgers

Russell Wilson and his agent Mark Rodgers (Photo: MMQB)

That title is occupied by Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers at the moment, who signed a five-year deal worth of USD 110 million in 2013. This means that Wilson and Rodgers are looking for a USD 25 million per year deal, which is quite a big jump from the USD 1.5 million per annum that the rookie contract grants Wilson for its final year.
He is obviously underpaid, as there are 40 quarterbacks in the NFL, who make more than him, according to gambling facts, while less than a handful of those can match Wilson’s achievements, who led the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory in 2013-2014 and to another final a year later.

Argentina or Chile to End a Bad Run in Copa Final

Jul 03, 2015
copa america 2015 final

Last game of the Copa America 2015

The two best and most attractive teams of the Copa America reached the final, so the title decider should be an entertaining game even for those, who don’t follow South American football or football at all. Jorge Sampaoli, Chile’s Argentinian national coach will meet his home country in the biggest game of his career, while Lionel Messi and co. are looking for the first trophy of the remarkable generation of theirs. Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina midfielder Javier Pastore mentioned that he is enjoying his time with the national side, where his task is to help Messi and Angel di Maria to bring out the best of them.

Whoscored.com: Match Focus: Chile & Argentina Battle to End Trophy Drought in Copa America Final

Finally the Copa America got a fitting final, as Chile, the best team in the group phase meets Argentina, that obviously had a lot of potential and eventually started to roll against Paraguay in the semifinal. These two sides scored the most goals in the tournament, and gambling facts also has that no other team was able to win a match by a margin of more than one goal.
According to the statistics, these two outfits featured the best passers and they enjoyed the best possession rate. These two also want this Copa badly, as Chile are looking for its first ever trophy, while Argentina want to terminate a 22-year long period without a trophy.
Though Chile had the easiest draw, they were also able to control all their matches, registering a 70% average possession rate, and they scored the most goals amongst participating teams with a tally of 13. With that in mind, it is possible that Argentina, with the brilliant front three of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Angel di Maria, will sit back and try to catch Chile on the break.
It is also important to mention that while Chile is pretty vulnerable in the air because all of their players are short, fitting to their tactics that requires quick and agile footballers, Argentina has a potential to pose aerial threat.

ESPNFC.com: Copa America final the biggest game of Jorge Sampaoli’s impressive career

The Copa America final will certainly end an unsuccessful run, as Argentina wait for their first silverware in 22 years, while Chile are fighting for their first trophy ever. Meanwhile, for Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli, this will be the game he waited during his entire career.
Sampaoli produces an extra show next to the sideline as his team is playing on the pitch, and this reflects to the drive that took him so far coming from Casilda, a small town in Argentina. He wanted to be a football player, but an injury prevented this, and he worked at clubs in Peru and Ecuador to become one of today’s most exciting coaches.
Some of those who follow sports scores might know that Sampaoli follows his fellow Argentine predecessor Marcelo Bielsa’s philosophy and game plan, which is all about press and attack, even against those sides that are obviously stronger than Chile. And now he has to take on the team of his home country, a far more talented side, to reach the greatest success of his life.

Goal.com: Pastore: I play to make things easier for Messi and Di Maria

Though Javier Pastore was one of Argentina’s stars against Paraguay in the Copa America semifinal where La Albirroja were thrashed 6-1, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder revealed that for the national side his main task is to help Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria to give the best performance.

Pastore was also praised by national team coach Gerardo Martino after his performance against Paraguay, where, as keen followers of live sports results might remember, he scored a goal and registered an assist.

Pastore expressed that he enjoys the role of the midfield playmaker, online gambling news report. He said, “I am playing here to make things easier for Leo and for Di Maria.”
He added, “What I like most is setting up goals. When I give a pass that ends up being a goal I enjoy it more than anything else. Messi likes all sorts of passes, because whether you give it to him on his chest, his head or his feet, he always controls it well. He likes short passes a lot, so that he can play a one-two. He does that a lot for his club and I have seen it in training here. What he likes best is to have players nearby so he can receive the ball back.”

The FIFA Women’s World Cup became accepted as a decent major sporting event by the mainstream four years ago in Germany, when Japan eliminated the hosts in the quarter-final on their way to the final where they defeated the United States despite being underdogs. Though the tournament had huge audience numbers, the quality of women’s game was criticized by many of those who follow the sport. However, this year’s tournament showed that the elite teams are definitely capable of playing exciting football that is good to watch. And after the expansion, it also showed that newcomers have a lot to do to reach that level.

In the final of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, title-holders Japan and Olympic gold medal winners United State face each other. It is even more interesting that these two actually met each other in the 2011 World Cup final and in the 2012 Olympic final, so it is no question that the two best female sides will fight for the title in Vancouver.

Worldsoccertalk.com: Women’s soccer in Europe continuing to grow in popularity and scope

The 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup is considered as a breakthrough event in the history of the competition, as the tournament in Germany registered a record television audience, even though the hosts were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Japan. It was obvious from then, that the FIFA Women’s World Cup entered the mainstream, as it was finally accepted as a major sporting event.

Though back then the tournament was criticized by some of those who present live sports results in Germany, as the tactical elements the men’s use were far less interesting at the pace the female teams were performing. However, this year’s Women’s Champions League final, also held in Germany, was a massive success as FFC Frankfurt won their record fourth title.

The women’s game might be not as marketable as men’s football, however at the highest level they also sell a lot of tickets. For example online gambling news reported last autumn that the England v Germany friendly played at Wembley attracted more spectators than Wayne Rooney and co. taking on Norway two months before, 55,000 to 40,000.

The 2015 FIFA FIFA Women’s World Cup was the first tournament in the history of the competition that featured 24 teams. This meant that a few new outfits were able to show themselves to the world, like Ivory Coast, Ecuador and Cameroon.

She said, “That these teams realized what the level (of play) is at a FIFA World Cup, and that there is a gap between the top teams and where they are, they need to make sure they have better leagues, better player development, better national team plans with more games and programs in place to close that gap.”

F1 Trophies Are Not Good Enough For Lewis Hamilton

Jul 02, 2015
lewis hamilton trophy

Highest standards in everything (Photo: Thisisf1)

Formula One must be really boring now. Not just for spectators, but for drivers as well. Lewis Hamilton is so fed up with things for example, that he started to criticize… the trophies. Not the lack of competition, the artificial overtaking process or the quiet and not very intimidating cars, but he slapped those who provide the actual pieces representing Grand Prix wins on the podium.

He wants quality pieces, preferably made of gold, okay, who doesn’t, but it is somehow ridiculous if you hear a driver complaining about baubles. Especially if that particular driver is a two-time world champion, who won his first British Grand Prix in 2008 in pouring rain…

The Guardian: Lewis Hamilton: British Grand Prix gives me the biggest buzz

Two-time British world champion driver Lewis Hamilton is the number one favourite to win the 2015 British Grand Prix. He won four out of eight races this year and in the build up to this year’s event, he recalled the 2008 Silverstone race, where he was able to pull out a victory in his second season.

“My favourite British Grand Prix is still that win in the rain,” he said. “I qualified fourth but then the heavens opened and I knew that it was my day. I got a great start and I just followed the lines that I took from my experience of Formula Renault days. It was a great race and everybody was standing every single time I went through Abbey, in the pouring rain with umbrellas up. That was a really special time. I won by 68 seconds.”

Seven years passed since Hamilton’s first championship-winning season, Formula One is considered to be in decline, but Mercedes’ British driver is the number one personality in the business, according to British followers of sports scores. Without him, the stands of the former military airport probably wouldn’t be packed this weekend, but he is a guarantee for high spectator numbers.

The Telegraph: Lewis Hamilton is fed up with the poor standard of trophies in Formula One

Lewis Hamilton has won so many trophies in his Formula One career that he became an expert on the quality of the awards. No joke, and it wasn’t posted on a brand new gambling blog started by Hamilton either, this is really about those pieces the drivers get on the podium.
Hamilton prefers gold, though it turned out that he will be racing at Silverstone for another plastic bauble this weekend, after online gambling news revealed the trophy of this year’s British Grand Prix. Hamilton revealed that he was so annoyed by its cheapness that he took the point to Bernie Ecclestone, the owner of the commercial rights of F1.

Hamilton said, “We just need to make better trophies – it’s shocking how bad the trophies are.The trophies are as good as… at go kart level, it was really bad.” He went on to add, “Formula Renault was just little boxes with a car in the middle. Formula Three was good, and at the beginning of my Formula One career the trophies were really good. But now they are just terrible man. They are so bad. I told Bernie and he got the trophy guy in the room and I just said, ‘you know’.”

BBC.com: Nic Hamilton: From computer games with Lewis to racing history

While Lewis Hamilton was on the racing track all the time to pursue his dreams about becoming a Formula One world champion, his younger brother, Nic, who has cerebral palsy, spent virtually three years in his bedroom to do something similar in the virtual world.

Nic Hamilton became so good at computer racing games, that after a while Lewis didn’t have any chance against him, though the latter had the occasion to try a few professional simulators during his career.

Though Nic’s condition makes it difficult to walk and also causes pain for him and tied him to a wheelchair for the majority of his childhood, he was so good at simulators, that he had the opportunity to become a real racing driver.

At 23 he became the first disabled driver in the history of the British Touring Car Championship last weekend, gambling news report. “I became UK online champion in 2009”, he expressed “And it got to a point that when I was playing against Lewis I was always faster than him.”

He added, “Some people might call it sad, but for me it was a form of motorsport and actually the thing that started my whole career. That’s how it became real – basically it was his idea saying: ‘You need to get in a real car.”

He added, “Some people might call it sad, but for me it was a form of motorsport and actually the thing that started my whole career. That’s how it became real – basically it was his idea saying: ‘You need to get in a real car.”

Argentina met Paraguay again at the 2015 Copa America after the two sides played a 2–2 draw against each other already in their Group B meeting. Lionel Messi and his teammates had the upper hand on that occasion, but somehow they were unable to finish the game off and Paraguay came back to equalize and grab an important point.

This time Argentina took a two-goal lead once again, but now they did not let the same happen, though Lucas Barrios made it 2–1 before half time. Tata Martino set his players to terminator mode for the second half however and they scored four more to back their claim to the title, which they can win against hosts Chile who look for their maiden Copa victory.

Argentina hammered Paraguay in the second semifinal of the Copa America and will meet with Chile in the title decider on Saturday. Argentina put six past Paraguay goalkeeper Justo Willar and the goals of Albiceleste came from Angel di Maria, Marcos Rojo, Javier Pastore, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain, online gambling news report.

Just before half-time it seemed that the game would be much more interesting, when Lucas Barrios made it 2–1. However this time Paraguay weren’t able to come back after being 2–0 down like in the group stage match of the two, like many of those who follow sports scores would recall.

Though Argentina had a lot of chances against Colombia in the quarter-final and still were unable to score, they were much more clinical against Paraguay. Marcus Rojo took the lead after 15 minutes of football from a Lionel Messi free kick, and after that the Argentinian attackers had a lot of space to create goal-scoring opportunities as Paraguay was pushing desperately.

The Guardian: Argentina hit Paraguay for six to reach Copa America final

In the semifinal against Paraguay, Argentina showed their best display in the Copa America so far and swept their opponents aside easily with a 6–1 scoreline. That result sent Tata Martino’s team to the final where they will play against hosts Chile, gambling online news report.

Though he did not score himself, the key role was Lionel Messi’s, who organized his team’s attacking play and who also delivered three assists. Argentina had a tally of four goals from their first four matches in the Copa America, but against Paraguay they were able to score more than that in a single game. Messi expressed that the reason behind the considerable low amount of goals in the early stages of the tournament wasn’t Argentina playing badly.

“We talked about that just before the match,” said Messi, “And we said it was just chance that we hadn’t scored more because we’ve been playing well. Today all the goals came at once.” Paraguay lost their two strikers because of injuries in the first half, and though substitute forward Lucas Barrios was able to make it 2–1, Paraguay were never in contention to reach the final, as Argentina were rolling in the second half.

ESPNFC.com: Argentina thrash Paraguay to set up a fascinating final vs. Chile

When Lucas Barrios scored with a left-footer to make it 2–1, many of those who follow live sports results would think that Paraguay could be able to equalize again after going down 2–0 against Argentina, as they did in their group match. However this time Argentina came out to the second half as a virtually unbeatable side and finished the game with an embarrassing result for Paraguay.

La Albiceleste had a lot of opportunities to finish the game on the break in their group stage match, but those chances left unconverted. This time the setting was similar, however Messi and co. kept on scoring and with only eight minutes into the second half it was 4–1 and all over practically.

It is interesting that Paraguay weren’t playing any worse than they did in their first match against Argentina at the 2015 Copa America, but Argentina were so much better and more clinical that La Albirroja just didn’t have any chance to reach the final of the competition.
