Community Shield 2015 Preview: Chelsea over Arsenal

Jul 31, 2015

For the managers of the teams in Community Shield 2015 might be no more than part of the preparation for next season. However, for punters it is the first opportunity in two months to wager on competitive club football.

It will be important for supporters and players as well, since they will face one of their fiercest rivals. Maybe their main rivals for the Premier League season, as the title defenders expect a serious challenge from the upgraded Gunners.

Knowing the two teams’ recent preseason results and performances, it seems that Arsenal is on a roll already. This might hurt their league campaign as a dip in form can happen too early into the season. However, they can easily upset the odds in the Community Shield game on Sunday, as Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea expectedly will start to pick up their form only next week. Arsenal are 2.90 (19/10) underdogs at Bet365, however, backing them might be a wise decision. Chelsea are 2.50 (6/4) favourites, while the draw is available at 3.60 (13/5).

ESPNFC.com: Rivalry returns as Wenger and Mourinho set for Arsenal vs. Chelsea

Before the Premier League starts next week, as a warm-up, followers of live sports results can watch the champions taking on the FA Cup winners for the Community Shield 2015 on Sunday. It will be an opportunity to make a statement for both Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger, just before the campaign starts.

Arsenal have just finished a virtually perfect preseason. The Gunners have won some minor tournaments like the Barclays Asia Trophy and the Emirates Cup. They also destroyed Olympique Lyon 6-0 with a remarkable performance. And they were also able to sign an elite goalkeeper in Chelsea legend Petr Cech with a move Mourinho didn’t like that much.

It seems that Arsenal were able to maintain the momentum they gained towards the end of last season. However, Mourinho outlined that preseason results don’t mean anything. He said, “Preseason is fake, for good and bad. If you’re bad, it’s fake, and if you’re good it’s fake.”

SkySports.com: Arsenal can see off Chelsea in Community Shield says Paul Merson

The 2015-16 English football season starts with the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. Premier League champions Chelsea will meet FA Cup winners Arsenal in a game that won’t be that important for the teams according to former Arsenal star Paul Merson, gambling news report.

Chelsea face Arsenal in Community Shield 2015

Whoever comes out on top, Community Shield 2015 will be a tough match to win (SkySports)

He based his statement on last year’s Community Shield game, when the Gunners demolished League champions Manchester City, as many of those who follow sports scores might remember. However Arsenal had a poor start in the season afterwards, and they were out from the title race already in the fall.

Merson agreed with Jose Mourinho about Arsenal having no excuses if they fail to win the league this season. They acquired a world class goalie, and so that they were able to improve a crucial section of the team. Merson emphasized that Petr Cech will be able to save some points for them, and that could be a key factor in title race.

IBTimes.co.uk: Chelsea: John Terry ready for ‘spicy’ Community Shield reunion with Arsenal keeper Petr Cech

John Terry, Chelsea’s skipper revealed that long-time Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech joining Arsene Wenger’s team will give some extra spice to the already hot London derby. Cech will expectedly play his first competitive match for the Gunners on Sunday, in Community Shield 2015. The Czech international left Chelsea after he lost his place in the starting line-up against Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois.

John Terry and Petr Cech will meet in Community Shield 2015

Terry said playing against his old teammate will add spice to Community Shield 2015 (Photo: The Sun)

Terry said before Cech left for Arsenal that by signing the world class goalie, Wenger will add 12 to 15 points a season to his team’s tally, online mobile news reported then. Terry expressed that he couldn’t wait for the start of the new campaign. He said, “It’s all about winning the trophy, it’s as simple as that, it’s against our big London rivals, Petr Cech’s gone there as well, it’s going to have a little bit more spice to it.”

He added, “For me even speaking about the Red Bulls game [which Chelsea lost 4-2] has got me fired up a little bit. I hate losing. Everyone in the squad’s the same, so ideally we want to take fitness from the games and prepare ourselves right but, at the end of the day, when there’s trophies on the line we want to go and win it.”

Deflategate scandal: Brady Sues NFL

Jul 30, 2015
Deflategate scandal Super Bowl XLIX balls

How many more times can this affair be skinned for news? (Photo:Kirby Lee/USA Today)

Deflategate scandal not finished: The NFL upheld Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for his obstructing the investigation.

It was widely discussed earlier this year that the New England Patriots used under-inflated footballs. It is alleged to have happened in the AFC final against the Indianapolis Colts. According to the NFL, the Pats did that on purpose to help their attacking unit, especially Brady.

Brady insisted that he was innocent, however the league upheld its punishment without producing considerable evidence. Brady and the Players Association sued the league. Brady’s absence might affect New England’s chances in the upcoming season. Title-holder Pats are third favorites to win Super Bowl 50 with odds of 9.50 (17/2) at Bet365. They are favorites to win the AFC North, as their division title is priced at 1.80 (4/5).

NFL.com: Tom Brady, NFLPA file suit to vacate suspension

After the National Football League upheld its four-game suspension in the Deflatgate controversy, Tom Brady and the Players Association (NFLPA) sued the NFL in Minnesota. Their goal is to get the penalty abolished by the Minnesota federal court.

Media all over Deflategate scandal

Looks like the media couldn’t do without another Belichick scandal (davegranlund.com)

As followers of live sports results might remember, the Deflategate scandal exploded after New England defeated the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL playoffs earlier this year. It turned out that the Patriots used under-inflated footballs, allegedly to make it easier for Brady and co. The Pats won the game by a comfortable margin and went on to win the Super Bowl.

Brady insisted that he had nothing to do with that. According to the suit, the NFL’s decision was incorrect and inconsistent. It also claims that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was biased as he decided to maintain the penalty, gambling news report. As the lawsuit was filed, the New England Patriots organization started to attack the league over their process.

CNN.com: Tom Brady and Patriots owner attack NFL over ‘Deflategate’ decision

The National Football League upheld Tom Brady’s four-game suspension in the Deflategate scandal. The New England Patriots quarterback destroyed his cellphone before the investigation could have accessed the 10,000 text messages it contained. However, Brady argues that he did nothing wrong by doing that as he regularly breaks his old phones.

He posted on Facebook, “To suggest that I destroyed a phone to avoid giving the NFL information it requested is completely wrong.” Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed that he supported Brady during the Deflategate scandal controversy and he disappointed with the NFL, online mobile news report. He said, “I was wrong to put my faith in the league.”

Brady insists that he regularly breaks his phone and SIM card physically for security reasons, when he obtains a new device. He came under suspicion however, as the League was asking for access to the contents of his cellphone during the investigation of the Deflategate scandal.

ESPN.go.com: Robert Kraft’s statement on Deflategate scandal: ‘I was wrong to put my faith in the league’

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft released a statement after the NFL upheld Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for his alleged involvement in the Deflategate scandal. He wrote that this was the last time his opinion on the matter appeared in sports scores news before the legal process is over. Kraft also outlined that the league should do the same.

Robert Kraft statement on Deflategate scandal

Kraft argues that according to the routine policy of the NFL, Brady’s suspension should have been reduced on appeal. The statement says, “Six months removed from the AFC Championship Game, the league still has no hard evidence of anybody doing anything to tamper with the PSI levels of footballs. I continue to believe and unequivocally support Tom Brady.”

Kraft added, “The league’s handling of this entire process has been extremely frustrating and disconcerting. I will never understand why an initial erroneous report regarding the PSI level of footballs was leaked by a source from the NFL a few days after the AFC Championship Game, and was never corrected by those who had the correct information.”

CL Qualifiers: Celtic chances good against Quarabag

Jul 28, 2015
Fk Karabakh Celtic chances

Scottish champions Celtic will have a difficult game on Wednesday

Scottish champions Celtic prepares for the first leg in the third round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers against Azeri league-winners FK Quarabag.

Quarabag is not a well-known name amongst European football fans, however, with a trip to the Caucasus Celtic chances an unpleasant surprise. As Celtic are considered as firm favourites before the first leg, they should try to build as big an advantage as possible to ensure themselves a relaxed week before the reverse fixture. Celtic to beat Quarabag is priced at 1.44 (4/9) by Bet365.

Draw is available at 4.20 (16/5) while the Azeris are 7.50 (13/2) underdogs at the same online betting destination. Celtic are 1.33 (1/3) favourites to advance while a Quarabag aggregate victory is offered with odds of 3.25 (9/4). Celtic with a -1 handicap is priced at 2.30 (13/10) by Bet365, and the Bhoys’ half time/full time success pays at 2.20 (6/5). Celtic chances to beat Quarabag by two goals is a fancy option, available at 4.33 (10/3).

Dailyrecord.co.uk: Ronny Deila says Celtic must ‘step it up’ to keep Champions League dream on track

Norwegian boss Ronny Deila expressed that the best European performance is needed from Celtic to beat Quarabag. The Celts are facing the Azeri side in the third round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers. Deila insists that Celtic will need their best form to reach the play-off round against the tricky opposition from Baku.

How are Celtic chances against Quarabag?

The Bhoys showed their best European displays most recently against Internazionale in the knockout phase of the Champions League earlier this year, as many of those who follow live sports results might remember. Deila thinks that Celtic chances a nasty blunder if they don’t perform on that level against the Azeri champions.

He said, “When you get bigger tasks you step it up and the players will do that. So we need to be at our Inter Milan level. Qarabag are a very good team. They beat Twente Enschede in the Europa League qualifiers and did well in the group. It’s a difficult draw but you can’t think like that and we have to take what is coming in front of us. We know we are good enough. But we have to be at our best and at least we are at home first. That will be an important game.”

Express.co.uk: Stefan Johansen warns Celtic that Champions League tie won’t be easy

Celtic midfielder Stefan Johansen has some experience of Azeri football. He met the Azerbaijan national football team twice while playing for Norway, as Scandinavian experts of gambling facts might remember. He recalls the outings as tough matches, however he expects Celtic to beat Quarabag in the first leg of their respective Champions League qualifier.

Celtic chances against FK Quarabag good

The 26-year-old said, “Qarabag have a few Brazilians and a Spanish guy and it’s difficult to say what they’ll be like because I haven’t seen enough of them. But their national team played with fight, they played hard. It’s never easy to go there. The national team played very physically and it was a tough game for us but I think we can get a good result.”

He pointed out that Baku will be a tricky venue to play. Celtic chances are good, but it won’t be smooth. He expressed, “It’s always tough, especially in Europe, to go away and play, but I’m confident we can go there and get a good result. Home is where we need to build the result. We had a 2-0 win to go away with last week to Stjarnan and you always know if you get the away goal then it’s more or less secure.”

Dailymail.co.uk: Champions League prestige more important than £20million qualification windfall, insists Celtic manager Ronny Deila

Ronny Deila said that the prestige of reaching the group stages of the Champions League is far more important for him and his players than the GBP 20 million it would bring to Celtic. The Norwegian manager would like to use the benefits of reaching the group stage to cement the Hoops’ place in sports scores news as Champions League regulars.

Celtic manager claims prestige is more important than money (Photo: SNS)

Deila said, “It is the same as with the players – you don’t get money out of thinking always about money. You have to love the game and you have to love to train, and then the money will come. This is what I say to my players. If you want to think always about wanting to be rich, you won’t get it. You have to be the best in something – and that is how it is in football.”

Discussing Celtic chances he added, “It is about what happens on the pitch, it is about everything. The money is nothing compared with the experience – but when you do well everything gets higher. So yes, the prestige is more priceless than the money – but there are positives in the second one, as well. It helps the club get more secure and we can build even more.”

F1 Hungarian GP results: A Day to Remember

Jul 28, 2015
2015 Hungarian GP results Vettel wins

Few people would’ve bet on Vettel winning the race (Photo: AP)

Hungarian GP results are always predictable? A dull race? Not this year!

There is some kind of a preconception about the Hungarian GP. It is regarded as a boring event, and is sometimes speculated that the race is only in the Formula 1 calendar because of the closeness of Budapest, the beautiful capital of Hungary. However, from time to time the Hungarian GP results prove that it can easily produce one of the best races of the season.

This time the Hungaroring hosted a remarkable race that had virtually everything. Many of those, who follow the sport know that although it is very exciting to drive on the track, it is almost impossible to overtake, and this makes racing on it boring. However, this time we saw nothing of it, as one overtaking was coming after another, contributing to a thrilling race that was won by a German in a Ferrari – a not very uncommon feature in Hungary regarding the past.

BBC.com: Hungarian GP was an epic race that will be remembered for years

The Hungarian GP started as a sad event. It was just days after the funeral of Jules Bianchi, and the drivers remembered the Frenchman with a minute of silence on the grid. Still, it seems that everyone was about to make this race a memory for the late Bianchi, and eventually the 2015 Hungarian GP was one of the best Grands Prix of the year.

The race started with a ceremony remembering Bianchi (Photo: bbc)

Many experts of gambling facts know that the Hungarian GP is usually an uneventful race, since it is nearly impossible to overtake on the track. Yet this time the race was full of challenges, battles, overtaking maneuvers and collisions. And it was full of surprises, right from the start when the two Ferraris performed arguably the best start of the season.

Lewis Hamilton was about to complete a perfect weekend, topping every practice and qualification phase. Looking at his lap times, some speculations emerged in gambling news before the race that he could lap the whole field. And then he just somehow didn’t get Sunday’s race right, producing his worst performance of the year.

Autosport.com: Lewis Hamilton apologises to Mercedes F1 team for “bad day”

After his worst race of the year, Lewis Hamilton took full responsibility for his performance. He also made an apology to his team Mercedes for his Hungarian GP results and “nightmare” race. Hamilton had quite a bad start, losing three positions, but making things even worse, he made a mistake at the chicane in lap 1, falling back to 11th.

Stunning many of those, who follow live sports scores, he was able to come back to fourth though, also capitalizing on a safety car period on the go. However, he hit Daniel Ricciardo’s Red Bull after the restart. After that, he needed a new nose, and he was also penalized with a drive through penalty for causing the collision.

Afterwards his teammate, Nico Rosberg also collided with Ricciardo, causing the German a puncture, Hamilton was able to come home sixth, opening up the gap between him and Rosberg to 21 points. Hamilton said, “It was one of the worst races I think I’ve had, and all I can do is apologize to the team and work hard to make amends at the next race.”

JamesAllenOnF1.com: F1’s Capacity to Stir the Emotions – Reflections on Memorable Hungarian GP

Formula 1 showed at the Hungarian GP, that it’s fully capable of stirring the emotions. It started with paying tribute to the Jules Bianchi, and it climaxed in electrifying overtaking actions. It was a proper way to remember the late Frenchman: the Hungarian GP results prove it had everything a race could have. It was also won by Ferrari, the team that he was expected to drive for.

2015 Hungarian GP results marshals

Everybody remembered Jules Bianchi in their own way (Photo: bbc)

Sebastian Vettel’s first thing was to dedicate his victory to Bianchi, after he crossed the finish line. Many followers of sports scores might be surprised, but it was the German’s first victory at the Hungaroring. His second win overall in 2015. And 41th career victory, he levelled the great Ayrton Senna. The Brazilian was the last driver to die from injuries sustained in a Formula 1 race before Bianchi. He was also somewhat of a specialist, with excellent Hungarian GP results right from 1986.

Hamilton is not far from his 41th victory either. If he wins the next three races, he will have the same tally as Senna, with exactly the same win-to-starts ratio.

The week in pictures: July 22 – July 28, 2015

Jul 28, 2015

Weekly news in pictures

There was no shortage of big news stories hitting the headlines last week so lets take a look back at some of the more important of the last seven days

A meeting of the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations in the Turkish town of Suruc was attacked by a suicide bomber as they discussed how to assist in the reconstruction of the Syrian town of Kobane. Dozens of the young attendees at the Amara Culture Centre were killed and over 100 injured. In response the Turkish air force began bombing IS and Kurdish militant targets in Syria as well as lifting the ban on its bases being used by US and allied air forces in their war against Islamic State.

The massive Japanese conglomerate Toshiba was rocked last week after an independent review of their accounts revealed the company, that produces everything from computers to nuclear power stations, had overstated their operating profits by in excess of 1.2 billion dollars. This was done with the full knowledge of senior management and, after criticism from Japanese finance minister Taro Aso, Hisao Tanaka, chief executive of the company, and seven other officials immediately resigned from Toshiba.

Last week saw Barack Obama visit Kenya, where his father hails from, spending time with the country’s president Mr. Kenyatta and paying his respects at the scene of the 1998 Nairobi embassy bombing that killed 224 people and injured more than 4,000. The two Presidents announced they stood united on terrorism but a joint press conference highlighted there were still key differences in attitude, especially on the topic of gay rights and the subject of women’s issues within Kenya itself.

In sport after a grueling 21 stages, a mammoth 3,360.3 kilometers and just shy of 82 hours of extremely hard riding Chris Froome won the Tour de France in Paris on Sunday last week, riding in with the rest of Team Sky to take another yellow jersey as well as the polkadots for being King of the Mountains. What will he be out to win next? You’ll have to read our daily news pages to find out but in the meantime lets take a look back over some of the major stories we covered over the last seven days.

Meanwhile the typically rather dour world of the British Houses of Parliament were rocked last week when Lord Sewel, Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords, the upper chamber, was forced to resign from his post after a British tabloid released video of him snorting cocaine from off the ample chest of a prostitute. The footage also prompted his resignation from the chairmanship of the Lord’s privileges and conduct committee, the very team that enforces standards in the Lords, standards he didn’t meet.

Froome won his second Tour de France title (ASO/letour.com)

The overall classification was decided when the pack crossed the finish line at the end of the first lap. The man wearing the yellow jersey came first, becoming the first British rider to win the Tour de France twice. He also became the first rider to win both the overall race and the mountain classification since Eddy Merckx in 1970.

Though he was accused of cheating, he was abused and a fan even threw a cup of urine at him, he did not lost his momentum during the Tour. With the help of his team, he was able to won the competition again, two years after his first victory in 2013.

There are officially 21 riders, who won the Tour more than once, as many of those, who follow sports scores might know. Plus there is Lance Armstrong of course, who came first a record seven times before he was stripped from his achievements due to his doping scandal.

Team Sky was wearing a special jersey for the last stage that was unveiled when the rain stopped and the riders got rid of their rain coats. As Froome already wrapped up the overall victory by the first lap, he was able to approach the finish line at a comfy pace, hand-in-hand with his teammates.

Chris Froome had to surmount a lot of things to claim his second Tour de France victory, as many, who follow live sports results might remember. He was charged with doping by the media, urine was thrown at him and he was spit and abused on the way. However, it was an incredible feeling for him to win the competition for the second time.

After crossing the finish line hand-in-hand with his teammates, he spoke about his feelings. He said, “This is such a great race, what can I say? I feel a lot of emotion. Of course it was a very, very difficult Tour, both on the bike and off it. I’m so happy to be here in yellow. There were a few difficulties, a few extra stresses outside of the race but that’s cycling in 2015.”

He was first accused of cheating two years ago. This time it happened again, and on stage 14, a fan even threw a cup of urine at him, shouting “dope”. The image of cycling was heavily damaged by the Lance Armstrong doping scandal that saw the seven-time winner being stripped of his achievements. However, Froome always insisted that he was a “clean” rider.

BBC.com: Chris Froome: Tour de France winner won’t ‘dishonour’ jersey

Chris Froome is the first British rider to win the Tour de France twice. Stunning many experts of gambling facts, he became the first man to top both the overall competition and the mountain rankings in the same year since Eddy Merckx’s outstanding achievement in 1970. Froome’s performance was described as “abnormal” by a French physiologist and the French television was also suspicious of him.

However, Team Sky released the performance data of the 30-year-old, to counter the charges. Froome himself also stated several times that he was clean. After claiming his overall victory, he commented the accusations once again. He said, “The yellow jersey is very special. I will always respect it and never dishonour it. Someone needs to speak up for the cyclists. I’m happy to do that. Someone has to make a stand, the time is now.”

He added, “I want to thank my team-mates, without you I would not be standing here. I give you my utmost respect and gratitude. This is your yellow jersey as much as it is mine. Thank you to the support team at Team Sky – your support has got me through the tough times. Thank you to my wife Michelle – your love and support are my motivation.”

Europa League Qualifiers: Debrecen Bags Nine, West Ham Struggles

9 – 2! (Photo: Focimagazin)

Hungarian side Debrecen completed a club record 9-2 victory over Skonto Riga in the second leg of the second round in the Europa League qualifiers.

Debrecen were considered as top dogs against Skonto after their first leg fixture in the second round of the Europa League qualifiers. However, looking at their first respective match, nobody thought that the reverse fixture will bring Debrecen’s record European success. However, the Hungarian side dominated the Latvian outfit that is not used to the hot weather, bagging a goal in every ten minutes on average, nine in total.

While Loki thrashed Riga 9-2 and advanced with a 11-4 aggregate score, the West Ham United players were fighting for their lives in the Maltese heat. After winning the first leg in the last minutes in London, they conceded early against Birkirkara. Moreover, they went down to ten before half time, and they faced a long night. Only the penalties saved them eventually, as the WHU players scored all of their spot kicks, sending themselves to the next round.

UEFA.com: West Ham survive, Debrecen record, Nordic glee

Debrecen played a 2-2 in the first leg in Riga against Skonto in the second round of the Europa League qualifiers. That result made the Hungarian outfit favourite to advance, but not too many of those who are involved in UEFA Europa League betting would expect what would have come in the reverse fixture.

Tibor Tisza opened the scoring in the seventh minute, and Debrecen finished the game off in the first half with a 5-0 havoc in the Hungarian heat. That wasn’t enough for the home side however, and Loki stopped at nine goals eventually, while the visitors also had two for consolation. The 9-2 result that marks out from this week’s sports scores is the largest European win in Debrecen club history, while also the biggest loss for Skonto.

After the 11-4 aggregate victory, Debrecen will meet Rosenborg, one of the three Norwegian sides advancing to the third round, while West Ham United will face Astra Giurgiu. To set up the trip to Romania, the Hammers needed to survive 120 minutes plus penalty shootouts in Malta. Birkirkara, the home team scored the only goal of the game in the 15th minute, and WHU went down to ten in the first half. However, they were able to secure an advance in the Russian roulette.

The Guardian: Ten-man West Ham beat Birkirkara on penalties to stay in Europa League

West Ham United, playing the majority of the match with ten men, relied on a penalty shootout against Birkirkara. The Maltese side achieved a 1-0 through Fabrizio Miccoli’s goal on a humid and hot evening. Matching the result from the first leg of the second round in the Europa League qualifiers, extra time and then a shootout was needed to determine who to advance.

All five selected WHU players scored from the spot. The decisive penalty was sent home by Diego Poyet, the son Gustavo, the former Uruguayan international. Gus played for Chelsea and Tottenham, as many of those, who follow live sports results might remember.

The Hammers were down to ten in the first half, when James Tomkins, who scored the winner in the first leg, was sent off. He was the second WHU player who received a red card this year’s competition, after Diafra Sakho was sent off in the previous round. This is interesting, since the Hammers were qualified to the Europa League through their Fair Play ranking. The numbers were evened out when Birkirkara’s Mauricio Mazzetti was also red carded in overtime.

BBC.com: Europa League: We were better than Astra – Inverness

Astra Giurgiu eliminated Scottish Cup winners Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the second round of the Europa League qualifiers. Through this, they set up a meeting with West Ham United, however Inverness midfielder Greg Tansey thinks that the weaker side advanced from their respective fixture.

He said, “We look at them and there’s better sides in the Scottish Premiership. We more than held our own and I firmly believe we were the far better side.” However, Caley Thistle weren’t able to score a single goal during the two legs, and experts of gambling facts know, that such an unprolific display rarely results advancing.

Tansey added, “We gave everything, but we’re just lacking maybe that bit of killer edge in the final third and it’s something we need to get as quickly as possible. For the possession we had, I thought we could have done better. I thought over the two legs we were by far the better side in terms of ball possession.”

Chris Froome has been dominated the 2015 edition of the Tour de France so far. However, it seems that not all the crowd acknowledges his performance.

After doping charges appeared in the media in reaction to his outstanding climbing performance, a fan threw a cup full of urine at him. This might have seemed to be funny for the probably (or hopefully) drunk fan, but this was a disgusting act that shouldn’t be happen at such a prestigious event. International cycling’s governing body and Tour organizers, Amaury Sport Organisation – not so quickly, but finally – acted, releasing a statement that asks fans to respect yellow jersey.

BBC.com: Tour de France chiefs call for fans to respect yellow jersey

Tour the France fans were asked to respect yellow jersey by competition organizers and UCI, international cycling’s governing body, gambling news report. It comes after Chris Froome and his Sky teammates were involved in several humiliating episodes.

Froome complained that urine was thrown at him while he was doing stage 14, after doping charges emerged in the media against him. Another Team Sky member, Richie Porte reported that he was punched in stage 10. The doping accusations appeared as Sky doing an excellent job at the 2015 Tour, as followers of live sports results might know. 30-year-old British rider, Froome led the competition by more than three minutes after stage 18.
Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), organizer of the Tour de France released a joint statement. It said, “UCI President Brian Cookson and Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme ask crowds along the roadside to respect every rider, and the integrity of the riders and in particular the yellow jersey.”

SkySports.com: Tour de France: UCI calls for fans to respect riders on Alpine stages

UCI, the International Cycling Union released a statement together with the organizers of Tour de France, asking fans to respect yellow jersey and all the other riders in the remaining part of the competition. Chris Froome, Team Sky’s 30-year-old rider led Nairo Quintana by 3 minutes and 10 seconds when the statement was issued, as many of those who follow sports scores might have known.
Froome was accused with doping by the media, and a fan thrown a cup of urine at him at stage 14. It was reported shortly after his teammate, Richie Porte claimed that he was punched by a fan on stage 10. Apart from asking fans to respect yellow jersey rider Froome, the UCI and Amaury Sports Organisation (ASO) joint statement also emphasizes that they regretted the incident the British rider was involved in.
It said, “The UCI and ASO publicly regretted the aggressions suffered by the leader of the overall classification from some spectators during the 14th stage between Rodez and Mende, while at the same time thanking the large majority of the public which respects the athletes.”

The Guardian: UCI pleads for fans to ‘respect yellow jersey’ after Chris Froome abuse

UCI, world’s cycling governing body had to release a statement, asking fans to respect yellow jersey and stop insulting drivers on the Tour. What triggered the statement is that a cup of urine was thrown at Chris Froome while racing. Online mobile news reported that his teammate, Sky’s Australian rider Richie Porte was allegedly spat on and punched by fans.
The statement that was a joint issue with the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), Tour’s organizers said, “The peloton of the 102nd edition of the Tour de France enters a decisive phase of the race as it enters the Alps, where the riders require optimal conditions in order to perform to their best before arriving in Paris on Sunday.”
It continued, “UCI president Brian Cookson and Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme ask crowds along the roadside to respect every rider, and the integrity of the riders and in particular the yellow jersey.”

CONCACAF Gold Cup: Jamaica Upset US

Jul 23, 2015
CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinal Jamaica USA

Jamaica surprisingly eliminated hosts United States in the semis of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, to reach the final of the competition for the first time ever.

United States, the hosts of the CONCACAF Gold Cup were expected to face Mexico in the title decider of the competition. That is the default Gold Cup scenario, and since both sides were in the competition when it reached the semis, another USA vs Mexico final seemed inevitable. However, Jamaica came to the States upset the odds, and Winfried Schafer won the battle of the two German managers eventually.
The 65-year-old Schafer won the African Cup of Nations with Cameroon in 2002 and also reached the final of the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup. Jurgen Klinsmann, who is 15 years junior to him, took Germany to the third place in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and won the CONCACAF Gold Cup two years ago. However this time he won’t have another opportunity to collect the Gold Cup, as Schafer outwitted him in the semifinal.

CONCACAF.com: Jamaica tops U.S., earns first Gold Cup final spot

Jamaica were able to upset favourites United States in the semifinal of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, gambling news report. The Reggae Boyz will be the first side from the Caribbean to reach the final of Gold Cup. In the Philadelphia showdown they will face Mexico, who defeated Panama in the other semifinal.

The United States seemed to have the upper hand against Jamaica in the first half, however they were able to soak the pressure and found the net twice. Darren Mattocks and Giles Barnes were the Jamaican goal-scorers, and Michael Bradley pulled one back shortly after the break. However, this will appear only as a consolation goal in sports scores, as the USMNT wasn’t able to bag another one.
This is the first time since 2003 that the CONCACAF Gold Cup final won’t feature the United States. Jurgen Klinsmann’s men will play against Panama for the third place instead on Saturday, in Chester, PA.

WSJ.com: U.S. Men’s Soccer Team Upset by Jamaica in CONCACAF Gold Cup Semifinal

The semifinal against Jamaica might be the toughest USMNT match during the reign of coach Jurgen Klinsmann. The Caribbean underdogs bagged two goals in a five-minute-long spell in the first half and that was enough for them to reach the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Experts of gambling facts might know that it never happened before that Jamaica was able to defeat the Yanks in the United States. It is their second win against the US overall, the previous one coming in 1988. The USMNT will play against the winner of the Gold Cup in October to determine who to represent the CONCACAF in the 2017 Confederations Cup that is due to be held in Russia.
Klinsmann was furious after the game. He said, “We had enough chances to put the game away. It’s not a nice pill to swallow.” His team almost came back after going down 2-0 in the first half, but they were able to convert only one of their chances, and they duly went out of the competition.

ESPNFC.com: United States eliminated from CONCACAF Gold Cup after Jamaica loss

Jamaica exploited the United States’ defensive wobbles to eliminate the hosts and to reach their first ever CONCACAF Gold Cup final. Centre backs John Brooks and Ventura Alvarado looked sloppy throughout the whole competition, though the USMNT was lucky to avoid goals coming from their mistakes until the semifinals.

CONCACAF Gold Cup Semifinals Klinsmann

Those two were responsible for the first Jamaican goal that was scored by Darren Mattocks. The second came after Brad Guzan’s mistake, who unintentionally handballed outside the penalty area. From the free kick Giles Barnes put the ball into the net and online mobile news reported at half time that Jamaica were ahead by two.
United States displayed some excellent passing game to open up the visitors’ defence, however there was always somebody to make a last man tackle and save Ryan Thompson from conceding a goal. Michael Bradley still scored one, but Winfried Schafer’s defensive tactics worked eventually. That might be as basic as putting bodies between the ball and their goal, and to try to catch the USMNT on the break or from sit-pieces, but the hosts weren’t able to deal with it.

Hungarian GP: F1 Bids Farewell to Bianchi

Jul 23, 2015
2015 Hungarian GP

This year’s Hungarian GP might give teams a chance to catch up with Mercedes (bestfreejpg)

The Hungarian Grand Prix will wrap up a sad week that saw the funeral of Jules Bianchi.

The 25-year-old French driver died last week after being involved in a terrible crash in the Japanese GP last October. He was in coma since the accident. Most of the drivers attended his last services in Nice on Tuesday. After the funeral they headed to Budapest to prepare for the Hungarian GP. The race will start with a minute of silence in memory of Bianchi.

Two-times British world champion Lewis Hamilton is the favorite to win the race, according to gambling news. Bet365 considers him a 1.44 (4/9) top dog for both the race and qualification. His most likely challenger could be his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, who is second favourite to win the race with odds of 3.25 (9/4) and with 2.75 (7/4) for pole position at Bet365. Last year’s event was won by Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, who is 201.00 (200/1) underdog this time.

Autosport.com: Which F1 teams should be optimistic for the Hungarian Grand Prix?

Though Ferrari looked like possible title challengers in the spring, they lost their momentum as the European F1 season unfolded. However, a high-downforce circuit could favour them at the Hungarian Grand Prix, as well as the tyre allocation. Pirelli will supply the medium and the soft compounds for the teams, and Ferrari did quite well on this type of tyres in Bahrain, as many of those, who follow sports scores might remember.

2015 Hungarian GP hopes

The slow Hungaroring will let Alonso hunt some Mercedes (AFP)

Daniel Ricciardo was able to win the Hungarian Grand Prix last year, however he should aim for a less ambitious goal this time. Red Bull have been struggling in the season so far, thanks to the new aerodynamic regulations. Still, they have the best chance to pick up a larger chunk of points at a high-downforce circuit, like the Hungaroring.

This season has been a disaster for McLaren so far. The new Honda power system is virtually still in experimental phase, which means the car is far from being competitive. However, the Hungarian GP with its slow but highly demanding layout could well be the race of the year for the Woking-based outfit.

JamesAllenOnF1.com: Hungary to Host Emotional Weekend; Mercedes Close to Unusual Record

Midway through the 2015 Formula One World Championship, the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix will be dedicated to Jules Bianchi, who lost his life last week. F1 will remember the late Frenchman with several tributes this weekend. The FIA announced recently that they will retire Bianchi’s number 17 from Formula One, according to online mobile news.

Hungarian GP Mercedes record

Mercedes to set new record for consecutive double podiums at the Hungarian GP (Photo: dailymail)

Title-holder Lewis Hamilton attended Bianchi’s funeral, and also spoke about him in his preview for the Hungarian GP. He said, “I will be carrying Jules with me in my prayers and thoughts, not only this race but for the rest of my driving days. I know he’d want us to race hard as he did, and so I will.”

He added, ”For myself, I wished I had known him better. But from what I knew of him, he was a kind heart with a great spirit and a bright future. Now our sport embarks on a tough road ahead. We have been shown once more the dangers of our sport, that these should be respected and that we drivers commit ourselves to the chance that those dangers are there when we step into the car.”
Mercedes prepares for their 10th consecutive race with two drivers on the podium, which would be an all-time record in Formula One.

Crash.net: F1 Hungarian GP: Rosberg looking for happy end to ‘emotional week’

German Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg is looking forward to a weekend that might ease this stressful week in Formula One. The Hungarian Grand Prix will also be the last event before the one-month-long summer break, as keen followers of live sports results might know it. So, finishing on a high note would be crucial for the number one title-challenger before the well-deserved rest.

Hungarian GP Nico Rosberg

Nico Rosberg wants a Hungarian GP with a happy ending (Getty Images)

After being present at the funeral of Jules Bianchi, Rosberg naturally mentioned the late driver in the build up to the event at Hungaroring. He said, “He was a very talented driver and a good guy. My thoughts in these days are with his family and close friends. Everyone will be sharing the same feelings in the paddock this week, but we must race on and race hard for Jules – as he would have wanted to be doing himself.”

Last year’s Hungarian Grand Prix saw Lewis Hamilton refusing to let Rosberg to pass him though the team ordered him to do so. Rosberg answered the question about the incident diplomatically. He said, “The race here last year wasn’t ideal for me in the end, but it’s a proper circuit, in a beautiful city, with big crowds always filling the grandstands, so I’m looking forward to it and hoping bring home a stronger result this time around.”

Tyson Fury v Klitschko: Trash talk alert!

Jul 23, 2015
Tyson Fury v Klitschko press conference

Klitschko was more amused than intimidated (Photo: EPA)

The Tyson Fury v Klitschko title match is still months away, but it has already kicked off at the press conference.

Though Wladimir Klitschko is 1.22 (2/9) favorite against the British-Irish boxer at Bet365, Fury wants to break Klitschko’s face in their respective fight that is scheduled to 24 October. The two will clash in Dusseldorf for the heavyweight titles possessed by the Ukrainian. Klitschko has a 64-3 record with 53 knockout victories and with his last loss coming more than 10 years ago.

Tyson Fury, who is 4.50 (7/2) underdog at Bet365, has an immaculate record. He turned pro in 2008 and since then he recorded 24 victories, 18 of them being knockouts. It seems that the promo campaign for the bout in October will be fun to follow, as the 26-year-old started the fight with his mouth already.

BBC.com: Tyson Fury v Wladimir Klitschko: Briton wants rid of ‘boring’ boxer

British fighter Tyson Fury wants to break Klitschko’s face in their upcoming match, gambling news report. The 26-year-old considers Wladimir Klitschko as boring, and he said his opinion to the Ukrainian in person in a media session. Fury said, “You have about as much charisma as my underpants – zero. I’m interested in breaking your face in.”

Tyson Fury v Klitschko the belts

Fury’s talk is nice, but Klitschko has a lot more to show (Getty Images)

The 39-year-old Ukrainian suffered his last defeat in 2004 against Lamon Brewster. Klitschko possesses the belts of WBA, IBF and WBO. He prepares for his 28th heavyweight title match, which is a world record. Followers of gambling facts might know that this will be his 19th title defense in his second world champion spell. However, Fury thinks that this was it for Klitschko.

Fury said, “I’m interested in all of them belts you’ve got on there. I want to rid you out of the heavyweight division. You go on – you’re a sports psychologist, you speak 37 different languages, so what? You’re still a robotic person. You’re still not exciting and fun to watch. I am the new blood in the division, you are an old man.”

Klitschko had a fitting answer for the Briton. He said, “This guy is so entertaining. He sings, he dances, he is a cool dude. He does different things that people like – or hate. Some people adore you, some people say they can’t stand you, which is good.”

Independent.ie: ‘I’m interested in breaking your face in’ – Tyson Fury throws down gauntlet to Klitschko

Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko met in Dusseldorf, Germany to promote their fight that will be held in the city in October. Fury wants to break Klitschko’s face in, no less, as he considers the Ukrainian as a boring and uncharismatic fighter. Fury said, “It’s a personal mission for me to rid boxing of a boring person like you. Your jab-and-grab style – surely all of Europe wants to see you get beaten and all of Europe and the rest of the world will see you get beaten.”

Tyson Fury v Klitschko

Klitschko doesn’t believe his face will be smashed (Getty Images)

Fury considers himself Klitschko’s nemesis. He expressed, “I believe he has never faced a challenge like me ever before and I don’t think he will face a challenge like me again.” Followers of live sports results might have noticed that he doesn’t have self-assurance issues it seems. He added, “I’m a unique fighter, one of a kind, there’s never been someone like me before in history. A fighter like me only comes around every 1,000 years.”

Klitschko said that he was a fan of the Briton, and he thinks that Fury could really challenge him in their upcoming fight. He said, “I believe Tyson Fury is really meaning what he is talking about and he is definitely not coming here on October 24 just to be present and be on the canvas. No, he came here to win the championship fight.”

Dailymail.co.uk: Tyson Fury promises to smash Wladimir Klitschko’s face and says Ukrainian has ‘as much charisma as my underpants’

Wladimir Klitschko prepares for his 28th heavyweight title bout, this time against Tyson Fury, as many sports scores fans might know. That would be a world record with Klitschko overtaking Joe Louis. The legendary American fighter currently holds the record together with the Ukrainian. However, the Irishman slammed the Ukrainian’s statistics in a Dusseldorf press conference where the two were promoting the upcoming Tyson Fury v Klitschko match.

Tyson Fury v Klitschko not amused

“Save it, kid, that pikey talk will not work on me” (Photo: EPA)

The Briton said, “Are you greater than Louis, Ali, Frazier, Holmes? I think not. You’ve just fought bums well selected for you by your management.” Fury, who sometimes underlined his statements with swearing, considers himself “an American-style fighter with European fitness”. Fury wants to break Klitschko’s face in, as he confirmed, adding that he didn’t care about anybody’s opinion of what he said as he didn’t consider himself a role model.

Fury, who kept on abusing Klitschko, also spoke about the size differences, him standing 6 feet 9 inches, three inches taller than Klitschko. He said, “When I look at you I’m not feared. I don’t even see a big man because you’re not only shorter than me but you’re light for a modern heavyweight. You look old even though I think you’ve had botox. Jab-and-grab won’t be enough against me.”

Bayern Munich has agreed a financial deal with Italian football giants Juventus FC for the signature of Arturo Vidal.

The Chilean player is expected to undergo a medical with the Bavarians before the end of this week. Vidal has been a driving force in the Juventus team since he arrived at the club in 2011.
Due to the transfer of Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United, Vidal is considered as a suitable replacement for the former club captain. Juventus on the other hand have also lost some of their key players. Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez are among the few players that have already left the Turin side. The Old Lady are also said to be in talks with FC Bayern to sign Mario Gotze.

Director General of Juventus FC, Guiseppe Marotta, has confirmed that their Chilean player is set to depart from the club. The Juventus boss has concurred that the midfield is going to follow players like Angelo Ogbonna and Carlos Tevez, who recently left the Italian champions. Initial reports from gambling news suggest that Mario Gotze is set to leave FC Bayern as part of the deal to buy Vidal.

Marotta has however commented on the speculation. According to the website Goal, the Director General mentioned that “Gotze is a Bayern player and we are in talks for him.” Juventus have also been heavily linked with a move to sign German midfielder Julian Draxler. Speaking about the FC Schalke winger, the Juventus boss said “As for Draxler? I don’t know who will arrive at Juventus; we only know the kind of player we want.”

Arturo Vidal is set to sign a four year deal around the amount of GBP 90,000 a week. The Chilean player has won four Serie A titles since his arrival at Juventus in 2011. The midfield maestro is expected to go through a medical checkup at Munich before the end of the week. According to gambling law news, the midfielder is supposed to be a replacement for Franck Ribery who has been plagued with injuries for over a year now.

Arturo Vidal’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, is reported to be in Munich in order to put the final touches to the deal. The Chilean player previously played for German club Bayern Leverkusen between 2007 and 2011. The current transfer window has been a very busy one for both Bayern Munich and Juventus. The Bavarians have recently bought Brazilian striker Douglas Costa, for GBP 21.3m. On the other hand players like Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic have also signed for Juventus FC. Furthermore, the Old Lady also acquired Sami Khedira from Real Madrid.

Despite Bayern Munich rejecting a swap deal for Arturo Vidal and Mario Gotze, Juventus are still showing interest to sign the German midfielder. General Manager of Juventus FC Beppe Marotta has also confirmed that the Chilean player has penned a five-year deal with FC Bayern. In a press conference at Turin, the Juventus boss further mentioned that the club is not ready to sell their highly rated midfielder, Paul Pogba. The French midfielder is valued at a price of EUR 100m by the Italian giants.

Commenting on the speculations surrounding Mario Gotze, the manager mentioned “Gotze has a profile with characteristics we are looking for, but we have not started any negotiations with Bayern.” According to sports scores news, the Juventus boss further stated “all we have done is made an enquiry. We have good relations with the Germans. Should they or the players express a desire to change, then we will be the first to seek a meeting to evaluate his signing.”

Champions League Qualifiers 2nd legs

Jul 21, 2015
Stjarnan Celtic Champions league qualifiers

There is no doubt who is the favorite of the second leg of Stjarnan and Celtic’s duel (espn)

The reverse fixtures in the second round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers are scheduled to this week.

Wednesday brings some interesting matches for those, who like to bet on live sports results.
Though Lech Poznan fans might be terrified looking at Sarajevo’s results from last year, it would be surprising if the Poles would be unable to force their way to the next round. Celtic are also favourites against Stjarnan from Iceland. The biggest issue of the Scots expected to be the artificial grass, which might prevent them from fluid play. A galore of goals is not expected from them, but their advance looks safe. The New Saints will have quite a task against the Hungarian champions. Videoton has a 1-0 lead from the first leg, they play at home and will feature all of their foreign players who had visa problems last week. Dundalk will have a chance to upset BATE, so if you fancy football surprises, the Irish might provide you one.

UEFA.com: Guide to the Champions League second legs

Michael Wilde leads New Saints’ all-time scoring chart in the Welsh Premier League. As some of those, who follow sports scores in the UK might know, he was also top scorer in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers after the first three games. He bagged his three goals against B36 Tórshavn, however TNS might use another couple to overcome a 1-0 deficit against Videoton in Hungary in the second leg of the second qualifying round.

The New Saints Videoton Champions League Qualifiers

The New Saints visit to Hungary in a difficult position

Dundalk is looking for an upset against BATE Borisov. The Irish champions registered a 2-1 away defeat in the first leg in Belarus. David McMillan scored Dundalk’s precious away goal then, and the forward sees a chance for overturning the fixture. He said, “They won’t fancy coming to Oriel Park. We are confident now.” He added, “It was important that we didn’t concede late in the game the other night. A lot of Irish teams would have done that in the past.”

Sarajevo is travelling to Poland with a two-goal deficit to take on Lech Poznan. As the Bosnians were able to register two 3-1 away wins twelve months ago, they might have a shot at advancing this year too. Midfielder Samir Radovac said, “Last season we played better as guests. Let’s hope that’s the case this season too,” gambling news report.

Kazakhstani champions Astana have to overcome only one goal against Maribor at home. The hosts’ line-up will expectedly feature goalkeeper Nenad Eric, who was out in Slovenia last week due to injury. Manager Stanimir Stoilov said, “We need to act wisely and we need the support of the crowd until the very last second.” He added, “Though the first-leg of The Champions League qualifiers result leaves us in a very difficult situation, we played a good game in Maribor and the lads did well.”

Goal.com: Stjarnan – Celtic Preview: Scots hope to avoid slip-up on plastic pitch

Celtic won the first leg in the second round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers against Stjarnan. Ronny Deila’s team is obviously favourite to advance against the champions of Iceland. However, they have to perform well on an artificial playing surface at Stjornuvollur, which will be strange for the Bhoys.

Stjarnan got a lot of criticism for the quality of their turf last year from Motherwell manager Stuart McCall. The Icelanders were able to eliminate the Scottish side in the Europa League qualifiers last summer. Celtic players are in a cheerful mood though, after beating Spanish outfit Eibar 4-1 in a preseason friendly at the weekend, online mobile news report.

Dundalk BATE Borisov Champions League Qualifiers

Dundalk scored a precious away goal in the first leg in Borisov (RTE Sport)

Leigh Griffiths, who missed a penalty against Stjarnan last week, scored three against Eibar. He said, “It [the Eibar game] was a good test for us going into Wednesday night. We got the win last Wednesday, but I don’t think we played as well as we could have and we showed against Eibar what we’re all about. I got 90 minutes so I’m feeling sharp, but it’s a different kettle of fish on Wednesday night with the Champions League Qualifiers.”

Meanwhile Stjarnan struggles in Urvalsdeild, the Icelandic top tier, being 10 points behind leaders KR. Manager Runar Pall Sigmundsson thinks that the bad conversion of chances is the main reason of his team underperforming. He said, “We have been dominating games, but we are not taking our chances and it ends up costing us. We have to improve in future games, starting against Celtic.”

Man United want Muller, Bayern Don’t Sell

Jul 21, 2015
Man United want Muller Manchester World Cup

Is Muller worth €100 million? Bayern say he’s priceless (GettyImages)

The shocking news about Man United Bid for Muller is the latest high-profile transfer story in the German media, though Bayern turned down the offer.

The news about Man United Bid for Muller might be shocking at first, but mainly because of the fee that the Red Devils reportedly offered for the German forward. It might be strange to burn that amount of money on such an unspectacular player. However, Thomas Muller is a special football talent. His intelligence, positioning and reading of the game provides many goal scoring opportunities for himself and for his teammates as well.

Louis van Gaal claimed that he planned to go with a 4-3-3 formation next season. Muller is the ultimate addition to that, as he perfectly fits to a lopsided three-man forward line. He also contributes greatly to his team through is work rate and fitness. He might be far from any Brazilian forward regarding ball skills, but he is far more effective than most of them by always taking up the proper position. The reported EUR 100 million might be still a crazy amount for him, but if he can help United to the title, he might worth it for Van Gaal.

The Guardian: Manchester United target Thomas Müller but Bayern Munich stand firm

Bayern Munich don’t want to transfer another player to Old Trafford. However, as gambling news report that Man United want Muller, it is understood that the German international fancies an opportunity in Louis van Gaal’s squad. Manchester United are allegedly ready to spend more than EUR 80 million on the intelligent forward.

Van Gaal's Man United want Muller

Thomas Muller would reportedly get EUR 20 million per year in Manchester. That equals a GBP 265,000 weekly salary, which is twice as much as the player receives from Bayern. Van Gaal prepares his team in a 4-3-3 for next season. The 25-year-old, who has a good understanding of the game, would be a useful addition to that system.

Though the Bavarians rate the World Cup winning player highly, Pep Guardiola might be not that convinced about his qualities. Keen followers of sports scores might remember that the Catalan manager left out Muller last season, stunning the supporters. The two were also involved in a training ground rift recently. These facts might help Muller to get away from his beloved club.

uk.eurosport.yahoo.com: Premier League – Manchester United ‘make €100m bid for Thomas Muller’

Louis van Gaal mysteriously mentioned a shock move for an attacker recently. According to reports emerged from the German media, Man United want Muller to join them. The story also has that Bayern rejected an initial EUR 82 million offer. That was reportedly followed by an increased bid of EUR 100 million, only to be turned down by club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge personally.

Rummennigge adamant: Muller worth more to them than any money offered (bayernnews.org)

Thomas Muller plays for Bayern since 2000, making his debut for the first team in 2008. The 25-year-old was built in the Bayern team by Louis van Gaal. Since then he collected four Bundesliga titles and won the Champions League too. With Germany, he won the World Cup last year, having scored five goals throughout the tournament, equaling his tally from 2010, as followers of gambling facts might know.

Though the second bid might be no more than media speculation, it is clear that Muller would be a wonderful signing for Manchester United. The forward is regularly praised for his intelligent positioning, creativity and his productivity. He is also able to do an outstanding job in different roles either in the forward line or in midfield.

Manchester United acquired the services of midfield maestro Bastian Schweinsteiger recently. It seems that Louis van Gaal needs more German talent in his squad, as Man United want Muller as well, according to online mobile news.

The Red Devils reportedly offered EUR 82 million for the forward, but Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated that the club will not sell another one of his top assets for Manchester United. Rummenigge also warned the entire German football.

He said, “The Bundesliga has to finally act. The English are overtaking us left, right and centre. When taking into account transfer market activity, in marketing terms, in TV money – anywhere, really.”

He added, “The Bundesliga has to be careful not to fall further behind, I think. Anyone who follows the transfer market at the moment, within which English clubs work, knows their clubs are being fully upgraded. The Bundesliga has to be careful that we’re not emptied out.”

Weekly news in pictures

Numerous big news stories broke over the last week so lets glance back through some of the most important that we covered in the last seven daysThe Sun Newspaper in the UK (often described as “The Scum”) shocked the public last week by releasing footage of a young Queen Elizabeth II, the current monarch, playing with her mother and uncle, who became Edward VIII, in the gardens of Balmoral Castle using a Nazi salute. The private film made in the 1930s has sparked furious debate with many now calling on the Royal Family to open their archives and make their family links with the Third Reich a matter of public record.

Services for the 298 passengers and crew killed in the MH17 plane crash were held around the world last week on the first anniversary of the tragedy that saw a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 shot down by a BUK surface-to-air missile system during the Ukrainian civil war battle for Shakhtarsk Raion. Neither side has yet taken responsibility for the incident and have instead concentrated on blaming each other although the weight of evidence points to pro-Russian separatists having fired the missile.

In the US an attack on a military recruitment office and Navy & Marine Reserve Center in Chattanooga last week left five members of the armed services dead with numerous others wounded in two separate gun attacks perpetrated by 24 year old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez who was killed at the scene. Although his motive remained unclear the authorities sought to establish if he’d had links to any terrorist organizations like ISIS when it became clear he was heavily influenced by radical Islam.

In sport the Formula One world pledged to keep safety its foremost concerned after French driver Jules Bianchi died as a result of the extreme head injuries he suffered following a crash in the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. “We must never let this happen again.” Said Bernie Ecclestone hearing the news, but can Formula One retain audience figures if the danger is removed? Covered in ornate carvings the purpose behind the Moai remains a mystery but the project hopes to make an inventory of all the island’s statues although this is destined to take quite a while given these two took so long.

Jules Bianchi’s Death Shakes F1 World

Jul 20, 2015
Jules Bianchi's death accident

Jules Bianchi’s death might not come as a shock but it still hurt the world of motorsport.

Bianchi suffered severe head injuries in the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. He went out of the track in the pouring rain under double yellow flags to hit a recovery truck that was there to pull out Adrian Sutil’s car. The German unfortunately crashed at the same place just minutes before. Despite the very bad conditions, safety car wasn’t deployed.

Tragically, as the inquiry found out, Bianchi was unable to slow down his Marussia, before he left the track. The 25-year-old Frenchman was in coma for nine months before he died in his hometown, Nice on Friday night. He is the first F1 driver to pass away due to injuries sustained in a Formula One car since the great Ayrton Senna died in 1994.

The Telegraph: Jules Bianchi death: Formula One to pay their respects with minute’s silence before Hungarian Grand Prix

Formula One drivers and teams will expectedly hold a minute’s silence before the start of the Hungarian GP on Sunday, gambling news report. They will remember Jules Bianchi, the first F1 driver who died of injuries he suffered in a Formula One Grand Prix in more than twenty years.

Bianchi's death shakes F1

The 25-year-old Frenchman crashed in the Japanese Grand Prix last October. His accident was so tough that many of those, who follow sports scores feared the worst. However, Jules Bianchi’s death still shocked the people around motorsports. He passed away on Friday in his hometown, Nice after being in coma for nine months.

The Grand Prix Driver’s Association released a statement about the fight for safety, which never should be over. It said, “It is at times like this that we are brutally reminded of how dangerous racing still remains. Despite considerable improvements, we, the grand prix drivers, owe it to the racing community, to the lost ones and to Jules, his family and friends, to never relent in improving safety.”

SkySports.com: Formula 1 is safe despite Jules Bianchi’s death, says Bernie Ecclestone

Formula One Group Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone expressed that Formula One is safe after Jules Bianchi’s death. He revealed that his priority is to make the cars faster at the moment, according to online mobile news. He added that he thought that Bianchi, who passed away at 25 in Nice would have wanted the same.

Bernie Ecclestone on Jules Bianchi's Death

Ecclestone claims Formula 1 is nevertheless safe, despite Bianchi’s death (SkySports)

Bianchi suffered an accident at the Japanese Grand Prix in October, 2014. He was in coma for nine months before he died in his hometown. “First he was a very, very, very nice person” Ecclestone commented the sad news. “Secondly, he was very talented, so it’s a great loss, a loss to the sport and obviously a big loss to his parents.”

Ecclestone then added that Jules Bianchi’s death was the consequence of an extremely unfortunate incident, as he hit a truck that was deployed inside the crash barriers to extract Adrian Sutil’s car. He still considers F1 safe. He said, “Formula 1 is safe now, the cars are super safe, the circuit is safe, everything is good, as I say, if that truck hadn’t have been there it wouldn’t have happened.”

Motorsport.com: F1 must never get complacent over safety – Prost

Four-times Formula One world champion Alain Prost revealed that he thinks F1 should never be satisfied with their safety efforts after his fellow Frenchman Jules Bianchi’s death. Bianchi hit a tractor that was on the side of the track to pull out a crashed car without the safety car being deployed. As a result of the accident, F1 adopted the virtual safety car system, as keen followers of live sports results might remember.

Alain Prost on Bianchi's death

The Professor has always been outspoken about drivers’ safety, after Bianchi’s death he is sad to be justified (Photo: XPB Images)

Prost said, “I just think there was a small misjudgment that cost very dearly. There was an accident, pouring rain and appalling visibility. There should have been a safety car to slow the race down before the recovery truck went on track – that’s the misjudgment.”

He added “They have done a lot for safety. We had not had a fatal crash in F1 for 21 years, it means that a lot of work was done. But like everywhere, there’s always a little bit more to be done. The only thing that still was to be done for safety was about this recovery truck that goes on the circuit.”

Disabled Pressure Premier League Sponsors

Jul 19, 2015
Premier League Sponsors asked to back out

Holmes asks Premier League sponsors to discontinue supporting discriminating clubs (chrisholmes.co.uk)

Premier League sponsors and broadcasters were asked to consider leaving the game. The reason is that many clubs refuse to develop their stadium’s disabled facilities.

Currently only three Premier League stadiums are able to fulfill the regulations. The rest of them are in constant violation of policies regarding wheelchair spaces and other services for disabled spectators.

Lord Holmes is a Conservative peer and former nine-times Paralympic gold medalist. Holmes called Premier League sponsors and clubs to reconsider their relationships with clubs failing to comply with disabled facility regulations. According to a new bill proposal, Premier League stadiums might be closed down if they fail to meet the minimum guidelines.

BBC.com: Premier League sponsors urged to pull out over disabled facilities

It was told to Premier League sponsors and broadcasters that they should avoid football stadiums until those don’t provide useful facilities for disabled fans, gambling news report. The most successful Paralympic swimmer of Great Britain, Lord Holmes of Richmond addressed the House of Lords with the problem.

He said, “What we see is nothing short of shambolic. Today, I’m going to write to the sponsors of the Premier League and the broadcast partners to suggest to them that if there isn’t considerable progress – so far I think we can describe it as glacial progress – in this area they should consider their relationship with football and how that fits with their ethical state in the market.”

Only three Premier League stadiums, the properties of Swansea, Bournemouth and Leicester have enough wheelchair spaces, according to online mobile news. A 2014 BBC survey pointed out that eight out of 20 top light football stadiums failed to offer half of the required wheelchair spaces.

The Guardian: Premier League sponsors targeted by peer over disabled access ‘inaction’

The disability commissioner of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) asks Premier League sponsors to think about withdrawing from financial support of clubs. Football clubs should offer enough facilities for disabled people to retain the benefits of sponsorships.

Nine-times Paralympic Games swimming gold medalist, Lord Holmes, is fed up with disputing with the clubs, latest gambling news report. For example, Chelsea representatives stated that their old ground is not suited to offer enough wheelchair spaces considering safety measurements. Chelsea made a promise of fulfilling the wheelchair space quota, when they will build a new stadium.

However, Holmes argues that clubs are ready to arrange their grounds immediately, when new TV facilities are to be installed. Holmes, said “Whether it’s the Fifa debacle, casual sexism or the national scandal of discrimination against disabled fans, the need for football to discover its moral compass has never been greater. Poor access and discrimination against disabled fans has tarnished the reputation of football for too long.”

The Telegraph: Premier League face the threat of losing sponsors over clubs’ inadequate provision for disabled fans

Before Lord Chris Holmes’ calls were made in the House of Lords, it was already in the newspapers that the nine-times Paralympic gold medallist considers the state of Premier League football stadiums a national scandal, regarding facilities for disabled people.

He thinks that “some clubs are still stuck in the dark ages”, when referring to some incidents, disabled people were involved in when attending football matches in the English top flight. According to a new bill proposal, Premier League stadiums would lose their safety licenses unless meeting the minimum quota of wheelchair spaces and other facilities. This would mean that those stadiums were unable to host football matches.

It was reported by sports scores news earlier this year that three supporters were dispossessed by their crutches and walking sticks when attending a Premier League football match between Manchester United and Arsenal. A police liaison officer commented the incident, saying the stewards lacked common sense completely.

German GP Can Only Be Saved by a Sold Out 2016 Race

Jul 17, 2015
1966 German GP

The German GP is one of the oldest in F1 history. Lorenzo Bandini in a Ferrari at the 1966 GP.

Though the German GP is expected to return next year after it was included to the 2016 Formula One calendar, its future is not safe at all.

The 2015 German GP was originally scheduled to this weekend. However as the Nurburgring and the Hockenheimring both struggle financially, the event was dropped from this year’s Formula One calendar. Since Stirling Moss won the 1961 race in a Lotus-Climax at the 22-kilometer-long Nurbugring Nordschleife, no year passed without Germany hosting a Formula One Grand Prix.

Though Formula One was done with the Nordschleife after Niki Lauda’s horrible accident in 1976, it was always either the Nurburgring Sudschleife or the Hockenheimring that hosted the event since 1961. With the Nurbugring being pulled out this year, possibly for good, the future of the German GP lies at Hockenheim. But first of all, a sold out race is a must for 2016.

SkySports.com: German GP not out of the woods yet, warns Hockenheim chief

A sold out 2016 Grand Prix in Hockenheim might save the future of Formula One in Germany. The track is also prepared to hold the 2017 German GP if needed, gambling news report. To secure a long term future for the race in Germany, it is necessary to attract the fans in numbers.

German GP head organizer

The 2015 German GP was scheduled to this weekend initially before it was cancelled in March, as keen followers of live sports results might remember. The Nurburgring would have hosted this year’s event originally, however the leaders of the circuit were unable to reach an agreement with Bernie Ecclestone.

To step in for 2015 wouldn’t be a profitable move for Hockenheim. However the venue had no problem with the 2016 German GP. So that the event was scheduled to the recently issued provisional 2016 calendar, that includes as much as 21 races. If everything goes according to plans, next year’s season would be the longest ever in Formula One history.

Crash.net: German GP survival hinges on 2016 ‘full house’

Hockenheimring executives stated that a sold out 2016 German GP is a must for keeping the event in the Formula One calendar for long. The German Grand Prix was scheduled for 2016 but that doesn’t guarantee that the series will return to the country in the future beyond next year.

2014 German GP

It never happened since 1960 that the German GP was left out from the F1 calendar, as many of those who follow sports scores might know. This year however Nurbugring pulled out because of financial problems in March. Then it was too late to strike a lucrative deal with Hockenheim, and the 2015 German Grand Prix was dropped.

The event was already under threat in the past years. Sebastian Vettel might have dominated the series, but home supporters just weren’t interested. Only 50,000 supporters were watching Nico Rosberg claiming his home victory in a Mercedes last year. Now it seems that the 2016 German GP will be held at Hockenheim, but nothing else is a certainty.

Pitpass.com: 2016 event will decide future of F1 in Germany

Though Mercedes was there to help out the organizers, no deal was agreed in March. This meant that the German GP was dropped from the 2015 Formula One calendar after it was alternated between Nurburgring and Hockenheim for years.

Georg Seiler, Hockenheimring’s managing director expressed that the future of the German GP is up to the 2016 event. According to experts only a sold out event can keep Germany in the F1 calendar. Seiler said, “We need a well filled house next year so that Formula One has a future. We must tell the fans: come to the race next year and secure the future of F1 at Hockenheim.”

He added, “It is very sad because Formula One is an image carrier all over the world. For other countries it is part of their tourism promotion, money comes from other areas and they can stage the races without problems.”

Rivaldo and Son Rivaldinho Score in the Same Match

Jul 16, 2015
Rivaldo and Son Rivaldinho

The 43-year old world champion came out of retirement to play for Mogi Mirim (EuroSport)

Rivaldo and son, 20-year-old Rivaldinho played together for Mogi Mirim last year. That is the club where Rivaldo jump-started his career in the early nineties.

And that is the club where he became club president in 2008. He also returned as a player twice for them. However he decided to finish his playing career recently. But it was tough for him, as Mogi Mirim struggled.

After a while Rivaldo returned to the team that was on the bottom of the Brazilian Serie B table. Since then, they are unbeaten in two games. Moreover, Rivaldo and son both scored against Macae most recently. The World Cup winner contributed to all of his team’s three goals. He scored one himself and his son bagged a brace. Some sort of football history was written there.

The Guardian: Former Brazil star Rivaldo and his son both score in same league match

Mogi Mirim club president Rivaldo and son, Rivaldinho both play for the Brazilian Serie B outfit. Against Macae both of them got on the scoresheet in a 3-1 victory, as keen followers of live sports results might know.

Rivaldo, who is 43-year-old, retired before. However he has reactivated himself to help his struggling team. Mogi Mirim are unbeaten since Rivaldo’s return two games ago. They also moved from the bottom of the table, gambling news report.

Rivaldo and son

Everybody has the best memories about playing football with Dad..

The World Cup winner was playing for Barcelona at the peak of his career. Now he spent 50 minutes on the pitch to get involved in all three of his team’s goals. He contributed to his son’s diving header with a key pass in the build-up as early as the third minute.

Rivaldo and son, Rivaldinho then scored two more. The former world class player found the net from the spot in the 17th minute. Then Rivaldinho converted a one-on-one towards half-time. A late Macae comfort came from Pipico in the 81st minute then. Rivaldo said after the match that he was “grateful and happy”.

A Brazilian second-tier game saw Rivaldo and son, Rivaldinho scoring both. Like fathers, like sons. The World Cup winner contributed to all of Mogi Mirim’s goals. Rivaldo is also club president there. He decided to come out from a short retirement recently to help his team.

Rivaldo set up the assist before his son’s header with a key pass in the third minute. Then he scored from a penalty, before his son registered the third. Many of those who follow sports scores might remember famous father and son moments. There was Briand and Nigel Clough, Cesare and Paolo Maldini, but none of them played together.

The 17-year-old Eidur Gudjohnsen replaced his father, Arnor, 34 then, in an Iceland international game in 1996. They weren’t together on the pitch though like Rivaldo and son. Ian Bowyer and his son, Gary represented Hereford United together in the 1989-1990 season. The same goes for Alec Herd and his son, David, who played together for Stockport County in the 1950s.

ESPNFC.com: Rivaldo and son Rivaldinho keep it in the family in Brazil second division

The Rivaldo moment that many gambling blog readers recall first, would be his overhead kick for Barcelona. Then maybe his brace against Denmark at the FIFA 1998 World Cup. Only until the Mogi Mirim match, where Rivaldo and son, Rivaldinho scored both in the Brazilian Serie B.

Rivaldo played for Mogi Mirim in the early nineties, before making himself a name in Europe. Now he is trying to help them as club president, and after a short retirement, once again as a player. Rivaldo and son already played together last year for Mogi Mirim. However this is the first time that both of them scored.

At the peak of his career, Rivaldo was elected World Player of the Year. Now he is 43, and acting as Mogi Mirim president since 2008. He was an active player until 2014, but then he opted to retire. However that was cut short. He couldn’t watch his team struggling from the terraces. He came back to play and Rivaldo and son wrote history together.
